We all knew Ahsoka would obviously be returning to our screens as the show is named after her, but what truly stole the show was the sight of the character in her youth. The inclusion of the Clone Wars aged Ahsoka let out a wave of nostalgia that smacked onto us fans like a supernova. As present-time Ahsoka ventured through the still-unexplained World Between Worlds, a time-warping journey thrust her right back into the heart of the Clone Wars. There she stood, reverted to her childhood self, the spirited and fearless Padawan we came to adore in The Clone Wars, and it was at this time that I had to pause the episode for a second time top cry a little. The Clone Wars means a lot to me, okay?!

In the capable hands of Ariana Greenblatt, the amazing 16-year-old starlet fresh from the success of Barbie and her portrayal as the young Gamora from Avengers: Infinity War, young Ahsoka’s presence transported us back to those halcyon days of the Clone Wars era. Greenblatt’s portrayal beautifully complemented the iconic performance by Ashley Eckstein, who breathed life into the character for years in the animated series. With each spirited word and animated expression, Greenblatt carried the torch of Ahsoka’s legacy. As she appeared in the Ahsoka series, Young Ahsoka was more than just a character – she was a joyous testament to the enduring of some of the good storytelling Star Wars can still offer fans if only they stopped trying so hard.
