9. Jimmy Olsen

Blink, and you missed Jimmy Olsen in his live-action debut in the DCEU.

Fans of any version of Superman had high expectations for Jimmy Olsen. In the comics, Jimmy is one of Clark’s closest friends, serving as a reminder of the need for human relationships and the importance of maintaining connections with regular people. He’s a relatable character who reminds Clark of the goodness that exists in humanity. Unfortunately, you couldn’t discern any of that from Man of Steel.

Michael Cassidy played the role of a CIA operative who had the name but nothing else. In fact, he was codenamed Talon, which was more of a nod to Batman’s Court Of Owls than to Superman. It wasn’t all bad, as at least he went out with a bang.

Even Supergirl did a better job with Jimmy (Mehcad Brooks). While he wasn’t always connected to Supergirl, they gave this beacon of hope some love. Despite the greatness that was Man of Steel, Zack Snyder missed the mark in how he utilized Jimmy. Hopefully, James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy will give Jimmy the proper story and character depth he deserves.
