4. Adrienne Barbeau

Appeared in: Batman: The Animated SeriesThe New Batman Adventures

There aren’t many animated iterations of Catwoman on this list (even though some of them are truly fantastic), but the other one that we had to make an exception for is Batman: The Animated Series‘ amazing version of the character. That show has transcended both its format and genre to become one of the most well-recognized TV series of all time and a large part of that is down to its incredible voice cast.

Adrienne Barbeau brought Selina Kyle to life in the classic series and, if you’ve heard her in action, you’ll know why she’s so highly regarded. Offering up a sultry but powerful tone, she radiates everything that Catwoman is known for in a single line of dialogue. Her voice is sophisticated but sassy, providing layers to the character that do her comic book origins proud.

Barbeau portrayed the character in both the original animated series and its spinoff sequel The New Batman Adventures. In the latter, Selina is edgier and more antagonistic and she does a wonderful job of capturing that, making us wish that she had appeared on the show more often.

Like many characters from Batman: The Animated Series, this was the definitive version of Catwoman for a whole generation of kids, and if you grew up watching her, there’s a pretty strong chance you still hear Barbeau’s voice whenever you read the character’s comic book adventures.
