With Marc Spector dying, who will become the next Moon Knight in Marvel Comics?

Months ago, Marvel Comics released an image of a clock on their social media with text that said, “The countdown to the death of Marc Spector continues!” A month ago, the news became official. Marc Spector would die in December in the Marvel comic book, Death of Moon Knight. There were a lot of reports, but not much to go on.

Recently, a trailer was released and gave fans more information about what’s next for the Lunar Legionnaire. For example, while Marc Spector will die, there will still be a Moon Knight. Not only that, the Midnight Mission would live on and continue to protect the travelers of the night.

During Moon Knight No. 28, Marc told Reese she had to stay behind while he and Tigra went after Black Spectre. Marc also told her, if he didn’t return, the Midnight Mission was her’s. He said it’s too important to let die.

Writer Jed MacKay knew the reports of Marc’s death would come out. This lets the fans know that the Midnight Mission and the characters involved wouldn’t die with Marc. The trailer confirmed what the readers already knew.

Who will be the next Moon Knight?

All that’s left is figuring out who the next Moon Knight will be. If we’re being honest, it can only be one of two people. It’s either Dr. Yehya Badr (Hunter’s Moon) or Layla El-Faouly.

Hunter’s Moon has wanted this job for a while. Working with Marc over the last few months added to his desire. Layla is a popular Marvel Cinematic Universe character. Bringing her into the Marvel Comics universe just for a mini-series wouldn’t make sense. It would be like Harley Quinn debuting in DC Comics and never doing anything with her.

Whatever’s next for the Midnight Mission, they’re in safe hands. Jed MacKay is a great writer who’s written close to 30 flawless Moon Knight stories. Whatever he has planned will be great.
