Star Trek: All 9 commanders ranked from worst to best
Ever watched a Star Trek episode and thought about what it actually means to be a first officer in Starfleet? Well, you’re not alone.
From the ones who had us hooked with their charm to those who left us a little less satisfied, I have ranked Star Trek’s first officers in a list that’s bound to spark debates across starships and probably friend circles everywhere (mine included). Whether you’re a fan of logic-driven decisions or passionate heart-led jumps into the unknown, there’s a First Officer for any sort of occasion in the ever-expanding world of Star Trek.
If you’ve ever imagined yourself on the bridge, facing an unknown alien entity, or negotiating a tricky interstellar treaty, you’ll know just how pivotal the role of the first officer is. They’re the rock, the right hand of the captain, and, sometimes the voice of reason (or passion) that steers the ship out of impending doom. They challenge and support their captains, care for their crews, and stand tall in the face of danger – all while sporting those crisp Starfleet uniforms.
As we dive deep into this ranking, remember: While we may have our own personal favorites, every first officer brings a unique flair to the table.
Let’s rank them, shall we? Make it so.
Note: While there have been many first officers to appear in Star Trek lore over the years, this list will look at rank the primary and most memorable characters to hold that title across the various TV shows. in the franchise
