8. Commander Cavit (USS Voyager)

Appeared in: Star Trek: Voyager

While he’s ranked at number eight on our list, it’s hard to forget Commander Cavit’s fleeting yet impactful appearance in the Star Trek: Voyager pilot. There’s an undeniable thrill in seeing new characters introduced in a series (especially in a shared universe as expansive as Star Trek), and Cavit had that fresh-off-the-transporter-pad kind of charm.

He stepped onto the scene with the promise of an interesting dynamic as the USS Voyager’s first officer. The excitement and curiosity around the ship were palpable, and everyone was eager to see how he’d get along with Captain Janeway and the crew. But, in a shocking twist of fate, his time was cut short by the mysterious Caretaker’s array.

Now, why does he land in the eighth spot out of nine? Well, it’s not due to any fault of his own. The Star Trek universe is vast and filled with some truly legendary first officers who’ve had seasons, even series, to develop and endear themselves to fans. Commander Cavit’s brief tenure meant we barely got to scratch the surface of his character. But in the short time he was with us, he did manage to make an impression.
