5. Major Kira Nerys (Deep Space Nine)

Appeared in: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Coming in at number five on our list is a character who has seen it all. We are, of course, talking about the one and only Major Kira Nerys from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Imagine once being a Bajoran freedom fighter, resisting those nasty Cardassians, and then having to shift gears to become a key player on a space station run by the very organization that she wasn’t always in cahoots with. It’s like going from being a rebellious teenager to an essential team player at your first big job – that’s a huge leap.  Yet, Kira does it with style, with a journey filled with self-discovery, passion, and resilience.

Sure, there are other first officers with cool logic or unwavering loyalty, but Kira brings a zest and passion to Deep Space Nine that’s hard to match. She’s fiercely dedicated to her home planet, Bajor, and isn’t afraid to let anyone know it. Whenever there’s a challenge, you can bet Kira will face it head-on with that inspiring and iconic fiery spirit. It’s this combination of dedication, strength, and fiery spirit that makes her stand out, and why she’s snagged the number five spot in our list.
