When Ruby Rose exited Batwoman, it obviously meant that the show had lost Kate Kane, and with that came Kate’s central romance with Sophie Moore. Sure, Sophie was an important character in her own right, as a good-natured hero fighting against the evil in Gotham City, but her story was intrinsically tied to Kate’s as her long-term love.

The show’s new Scarlet Knight, Ryan Wilder, (played by Javicia Leslie), had a very different dynamic with Sophie. The pair crossed paths over the years, with Sophie often judging Ryan harshly and Ryan finding it hard to take Sophie seriously as a do-gooder given The Crows’ problematic reputation for corruption.

Ironically, a new chapter began for both when Ryan took up the mantle of Batwoman. Reluctantly working together, the duo eventually caught feelings for one another, kicking off one of the Arrowverse’s most unexpectedly endearing partnerships. They brought something new and exciting into their respective lives, and watching them fall for each other in Batwoman‘s third and final season was one of the most fulfilling aspects of the whole show’s run.

Oh how we wish the show got another season just to see them grow. They are perhaps the Arrowverse’s most underrated couple.
