11. Star Trek: Prodigy

Another animated series in the Star Trek lore, Star Trek: Prodigy has boldly carved its own path. Equipped with a narrative driven by a group of young extraterrestrial escapees from a penal colony, the show is a vibrant, fun, offbeat addition to the franchise. There’s an air of youth that permeates the series, and it is wonderfully complemented by stunning animation filled with rich, luminescent colors and intricately detailed landscapes. It’s this breathtaking visual spectacle and fresh perspective that gives Prodigy a distinctive charm and appeal.

However, Star Trek: Prodigy isn’t without its flaws. The series often feels impeded by its short runtime, which unfortunately leaves little room for any deep character exploration and plot development. Character arcs seem hurried, with transformation and growth often distilled into snippets rather than being unfolded before our eyes. Plot lines also bear the brunt of this compression, with some appearing underdeveloped or superficial, and lacking the time and means to expand to their full purpose.

Despite this, Prodigy had so much potential and tenacity, and it provides a unique spin on the Star Trek narrative. It’s such a shame that its fate is currently up in the air right now.
