DC will be releasing a new Justice League movie next year and it appears that it has finally has a release date.

The Justice League is undoubtedly one of the most famous superhero teams of all time. Once upon a time they were the most famous superhero team (until Marvel’s Avengers movie became a box-office phenomenon). They have headlined countless DC comic books, two animated TV shows, multiple animated movies, and even two (versions of the same) live-action movies.

That legacy will continue early next year, as we are getting another animated film, based on one of the most iconic comic book stories of all time. Justice League: Crisis On Infinite Earths – Part 1 comes out early next year and, as reported by The Direct, it seems that we finally have a release date for it.

Justice League: Crisis On Infinite Earths is coming sooner than you think

A new listing for the DVD and Blu-ray of Justice League: Crisis On Infinite Earths – Part 1 on Amazon France has a release date of January 24, 2024. The movie was expected to arrive at some point in early 2024, so it’s highly likely that this is when the animated film will come out.

In fact, the first look at the cover art was only just revealed, once again suggesting that its release is imminent. You can check that out here:

The cover features The Flash front and center, surrounded by other heroes such as Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and more. Superman is noticeably absent from the artwork, but if you’ve read the graphic novel, you’ll know that he also has an important role in the storyline.

This is the most recent of the DC animated fare to opt for two movies to tell the story, following in the footsteps of Batman films The Dark Knight Returns and The Long Halloween, and it really isn’t surprising given how extensive the source material is.

Crisis On Infinite Earths was released in 1985 and is considered one of the most pivotal storylines in comic book history, as it saw the Justice League and other DC heroes team up to take on the Anti-Monitor, who attempted to wipe out the multiverse with a wave of antimatter. It was very nearly the basis for a live-action DC movie at one point, but the upcoming Justice League film won’t be its first adaptation either, as it served as the foundation for the 2019 – 2020 Arrowverse crossover, which saw the heroes of The FlashArrowSupergirlDC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, and Black Lightning all come together.

The upcoming animated movie is just the newest chapter in that Crisis On Infinite Earths legacy and now that it could be coming sooner than expected, we’re super excited (and very ready) to watch it.

Are you excited for Justice League: Crisis On Infinite Earths? Will you be watching it next year?
