Captain America: Brave New World

Was it surprising when Thunderbolts was delayed to 2025, sure, but it wasn’t exactly shocking as the film hadn’t yet begun filming before the strikes. What was shocking was when Marvel announced Captain America: Brave New World was being bumped from May 2024 to February 14, 2025.

It had been reported that Captain America: Brave New World was able to finish filming hours before the actors’ strike shut down Hollywood for months. Fans expected Marvel could shift the movie back a few months but never anticipated Marvel would delay the movie to 2025. So what’s up?

Well, apparently the Marvel brass weren’t the biggest fan of the original product and they’re planning for extensive reshoots. It’s reported that Marvel will be resuming production on the movie in January with a five-month shoot. Rumor has it the plan is to reshoot three major action sequences but with a five-month shoot plan one has to wonder if there is more going on behind the scenes.

While we’ll have to wait to see what changes might be ahead, we do know the fourth Captain America film will bring back several familiar faces including Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson aka Captain America, Danny Ramirez’s Joaquin Torres aka the new Falcon, Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns aka The Leader, and Liv Tyler as Betsy Ross. They’ll be joined by MCU newcomer Harrison Ford who will make his debut as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in the feature.
