Shelton Benjamin

Shelton Benjamin is probably the greatest WWE superstar to never win a world championship during his time with company. The fact that we even have to write that sentence is ridiculous, because if there was a man in the company who deserves his flowers, it’s Shelton. What’s even more ridiculous is the fact that he was just released from the company in September, meaning that we won’t get to see him win that World Championship in the foreseeable future.

What makes Benjamin’s release all the more frustrating is the fact that he had just celebrated 20 years since his WWE debut. He had two separate stints with the company, so he may not have been present for all of those 20 years, but the fact that he was released just months after celebrating such a milestone is really sad, especially as there was so much left for him to achieve.

WWE never made the most of him during that second stint. During his first run with the company, he was one of the most promising young athletes in wrestling, from his time in The World’s Greatest Tag Team to his awesome Intercontinental Championship bouts on Raw, and it’s such a shame that he wasn’t given his dues in the second one.

We hope to see him back in a WWE ring someday, and it’s so disappointing that it won’t be in 2024.
