Batman spends a lot of his time in the Batcave, but which on-screen versions of it have understood the assignment (and which ones didn’t)?

Batman is a lot of things. He’s the Dark Knight. The Caped Crusader. The Gotham Guardian. He’s also the World’s Greatest Detective. There is no crime nor mystery that this man cannot solve.

A large part of what makes him so effective at what he does is the Batcave. The headquarters for the Bat-Family, it stores the Batsuits, the Batcomputer, and the Batmobile. Heck, in many iterations, it also stores Batboats and Batwings. Its supply of gadgets and equipment is limitless, and it’s a large part of why Batman always gets the job done.

The Batcave is an integral part of most Batman stories in the comics, but it has also joined Bruce Wayne in his many journeys onto the big and small screens. From the brilliantly overcrowded Batcave of the 1966 TV series (which had everything Batman and Robin ever needed), to the grim and simple Batcave recently seen in 2022’s The Batman, it’s an ever-present part of the Batman lore.

But which versions of the cave are the best? On that note, let’s venture into the caverns of Wayne Manor and look back at all of the live-action Batcaves thus far. And, as we await a new one in The Brave And The Bold, let’s rank its predecessors from worst to best.
