The fourth episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms began with Ser Duncan the Tall and Egg having the talk we all knew was coming, with Egg apologizing for lying about his lineage. And while Dunk was upset, when the time came to defend his squire, he stood taller than his massive height. Sadly, his honor in regard to Egg and Tanselle wasn’t enough to save him from punishment for striking Prince Aerion Targaryen.

Ser Duncan didn't think he could find six other knights to fight by his side by the time morning comes. And he even got betrayed at the end of the episode. However, when it’s all said and done, Dunk has his six (with him making seven) after Prince Baelor 'Breakspear' Targaryen breaks ranks with his family to fight for the heroes.

One of the great things about this show is how it progressed. As the season continued, it abandoned the constant humor and became more serious. It has been a nice change from previous Game of Thrones programs that only had brief moments of levity. That’s why it made sense that episode 4 (“Seven”) began more somber than viewers are used to seeing in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. And with this being the penultimate episode, viewers can expect less humor going into what is likely going to be a crucial season finale.

What to expect in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms episode 5

The fifth episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is the penultimate episode of the season. That means that something major will happen to build up to the finale - the Game of Thrones franchise has a history of ensuring that each season's penultimate episode is a big one. But, before the ending, two things will happen that viewers have been waiting to see.

First, it looks like we’ll see who Ser Dunk was when he was young. Telling this origin will do more than make for good television. This will help people better understand who Dunk is and why, despite his size, he often seems terrified and unsure of himself. He's also clearly remained a good person, so this character study might showcase how, through it all, he never wavered in his decency.

Second, Ser Duncan will finally fight. I think seeing him as timid up until this point - and the preview above showing him hesitating and puking before the fight - has been the creative team's way to throw viewers off. I truly believe Dunk is going to show the world why he ends up in the Book of Brothers. Stay tuned to Bam Smack Pow to see if that's what happens.
