A massive leak of an upcoming Marvel video game has made its way online

As it turns out, Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday aren't the only two projects suffering from massive leaks.

There's something about Marvel that seems to attract a lot of leaks. First, the whole world got to witness the second trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day earlier than anticipated (and not necessarily thanks to an official source).

To keep the streak going, footage from Avengers: Doomsday was published online, giving fans an early look at Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom in action and Earth's Mightiest Heroes fighting alongside the X-Men and Fantastic Four. Now, history has repeated itself yet again in the video game world.

While Marvel has yet to officially announce Project Comet, we know almost everything it has to offer thanks to a massive leak. First, industry insider Miller Ross confirmed the existence of the game, stating that it will be a "brand new Marvel mobile action RPG from [developer] Scopely." Furthermore, it was announced that the upcoming title will hold a closed beta later this month. However, the reveals were far from over.

Character models, assets, and voice lines from Project Comet, an upcoming Marvel video game, made their way online

Leaker MultiverSusie has been hard at work. Since June 19, the account has been leaking numerous details about Project Comet—from playable characters all the way to voice lines and even character models. These assets seem to have been the real deal, as Marvel has now issued a DMCA takedown, resulting in the deletion of all of these images.

The upcoming video game was described as "a Marvel Ultimate Alliance mobile game in a way." It is set to be very close to a gacha-style title like Genshin Impact or Wuthering Waves, but with Marvel characters instead. Furthermore, players will be able to team up with up to three other friends and replay missions outside of the main story. There will be difficulty options, and some "crossover lines" with the Marvel Ultimate Alliance franchise.

A list of day-one playable characters for Project Comet has also been revealed by leaker X0XLEAK:

  • Wolverine - S Rank
  • Doctor Strange - S Rank
  • Captain America - S Rank
  • Doctor Octopus - S Rank
  • Invisible Woman - A Rank
  • Elektra - A Rank
  • Spider-Man - A Rank
  • War Machine - A Rank

Developer Scopely is planning to support the game in the long term, as playable characters that will reportedly be released post-launch include the Juggernaut, Black Widow, Beast, Hulk, Jean Grey, Scarlet Witch, Thor, Peni Parker, and Miles Morales.

Now that a large number of assets from Project Comet have been leaked, perhaps the best move Marvel could make would be to officially announce the game, drop a trailer, and announce when the closed beta will arrive and how players can participate in it. Furthermore, there are still a few details under wraps that could be revealed by developer Scopely itself, such as whether there will be an open world for players to freely explore.

Another big question mark is whether Project Comet will be exclusive to mobile devices or if it will come to PC and possibly even the Nintendo Switch 2 as well. However, one thing is for certain: since development is so far ahead and a closed beta will take place soon, the full release shouldn't be too far away now.
