To say Marvel has been going through a difficult time would be an understatement. First, a new Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer leaked ahead of its release, giving audiences a better idea of what to expect from the wall-crawler's next adventure. Now, an entire sequence from Avengers: Doomsday has seemingly made its way online, and detailed breakdowns of what's shown in it are already circling the web.
If you hear the sound of thunder during the night, it might just be Kevin Feige summoning Mjolnir and getting ready to hunt the leakers.
Granted, we live in an era where it's easy to create fake "leaks" thanks to generative AI. However, multiple sources (including ComicBookMovie) are in agreement that the leaked Avengers: Doomsday footage is, in fact, the real deal. In it, the X-Men and Earth's Mightiest Heroes reportedly team up to fight against multiple Sentinels being controlled by Doctor Doom. Needless to say, superhero fans couldn't be any more excited about this prospect, and initial reactions are over the moon.

Fan reactions to the leaked Avengers: Doomsday trailer are overwhelmingly positive
The X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Avengers have never crossed paths on the big screen before due to licensing issues. But now that all of these beloved characters are under the Disney umbrella, they will finally join forces in Avengers: Doomsday. The film's four teaser trailers released so far have shone the spotlight on every one of these groups of heroes, with an extra teaser dedicated entirely to Steve Rogers himself. There was only one problem with this strategy: we never got to see any of these Marvel Cinematic Universe characters join forces.
The first full Avengers: Doomsday trailer finally changed that, but Marvel showcased it exclusively to attendees at CinemaCon 2026. Everyone at the event was in disbelief at what they saw, and descriptions quickly made their way online. However, the rest of the world had to wait longer to see all these groups of heroes come together for the first time in history, which only made everyone more eager to get a glimpse at the upcoming crossover. So now that that day is seemingly here, the reactions couldn't be more positive.
A user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote: "It's like the portal scenes [in Endgame] all over again. All the heroes aura farming before they fight to the death". Another one shared: "Doctor Doom controlling Sentinels is the kind of chaos I've been waiting for." Furthermore, there are many who are stating that the Avengers, Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four, and X-Men will definitely need the help of Wanda Maximoff.

Of course, the most exciting aspect is getting to watch all these iconic Marvel legends team up for the very first time, with an X user writing: "Watching the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Avengers fight a bunch of Sentinels is gonna be surreal." Additionally, people who have seen the footage seem to agree that Marvel is paying homage to the first Avengers movie, specifically to the sequence in which the camera pans around Earth's Mightiest Heroes for the first time. However, this time is much larger in scope, as teased by content creator Caboose: "Avengers: Doomsday is about to recreate this shot in a way that shows us how far the MCU has come since 2012."
But amidst all the excitement, the question has to be asked: Where does this footage come from? It's highly unlikely that an unfinished version of the film is just lying around somewhere online. So, the most likely answer is that this sequence is part of the first official Avengers: Doomsday trailer, which is heavily speculated to be released at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. With that in mind, it will be interesting to see what Marvel's reaction will be like moving forward.
There's always a big possibility that the leak itself is fake and nothing happens at all. However, an account that shared the footage has been banned on X, which lends weight to the idea that fans saw a real sequence from Avengers: Doomsday. So will Marvel move up the trailer's release? Or will it try to contain the damage as much as possible and wait until SDCC to talk more about the highly anticipated crossover? Only time will tell. But, for the time being, fans couldn't be any more excited about the MCU's future.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released on Dec. 18, 2026.
