Marvel Studios' Agatha All Along dropped a bombshell last week. The fifth episode of the Disney Plus series was the darkest yet as Agatha Harkness took on the Witches' Road with her own trial, but it took a number of unexpected turns, which was especially surprising given that it was the shortest episode of the season so far.

The biggest moment undoubtedly came in the end of the episode when it was revealed that Teen, portrayed by Joe Locke, wasn't who he said he was. Or maybe we should say that he was who he said he was but we just couldn't hear because of the sigil preventing him from revealing his true identity to witchfolk. But that true identity was revealed when he attacked Agatha, Lilia, and Jennifer with magic he wasn't supposed to have, unveiling a magical crown that confirmed him to be none other than Billy Maximoff, a.k.a. Wiccan, the son of the Scarlet Witch.

It was a surprise that such a pivotal reveal came so soon into the season, but the moment set the stage for the back half of Agatha All Along's run. And we got right into it in the sixith episode, which was pretty eye-opening in and of itself.

Before we dive into the recap, be warned that there are SPOILERS ahead.

Wiccan's origins revealed in Agatha All Along episode 6

Agatha All Along continues the fallout of the previous episode's big reveal but that didn't come in its opening moments. Instead, it came at the end. The majority of the episode was a flashback outing that allowed us to catch up with Teen and see how his life played out.

The basis of this one is to showcase how Billy, Wanda's son, came to exist. After all, the Billy and Tommy that we met in WandaVision were created by Wanda's magic as part of her Hex that she placed on Westview. The ones we then met in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness were from an alternate Earth. So how did Teen become Billy?

As the episode reveals, Billy was formerly William Kaplan. A young man with everything to live for, he had a reading with a witch - who we now know was actually Lilia Calderu - who read his palm and realized that his life force would split, taking him in two different directions. She then placed the sigil on him.

William and his family were in a car that was driving by Westview when Wanda's Hex expanded and it resulted in a car accident. Though his parents survived with cuts and bruises, William was in a bad shape. In fact, it was very much implied that he died. That is until, somehow, Billy Maximoff's soul became trapped in the young man who would later become known as Teen, resurrecting him and making one of Wanda's magical children real. Interestingly, the officer who helps him from the car is actually Alice Wu-Gulliver.

While Billy awoke as William Kaplan he couldn't remember any of his former lives (as either Billy or William). William's parents took him home but he began to hear their thoughts as they worried about whether he would ever remember them. He didn't, as we jumped forward three years and he now looked a lot more like the Teen we know and love. He revealed to his boyfriend that he couldn't remember his former life, adding that he did some research into the Hex and found someone from Westview who was willing to tell him the truth.

That person was Ralph Bohner (with Evan peters returning) who told him all about the events of Westview, Wanda and Vision, Agatha Harkness, and Tommy and Billy Maximoff. That ultimately led Billy to Agatha, as he decided to go to Westview and free her from the spell Wanda had placed on her.

From there, we saw how the events of the first episode played out from Billy's perspective. In the apparent interrogation scene with Agnes, we discovered that he was indeed the one responsible for breaking the spell Wanda placed on her.

Agatha All Along episode 6 ending explained: Finding Tommy (and the other witches, right?)

Back in the present, Agatha finds her way back to the surface. Covered in dirt, she confronts Teen - who we now know is Billy Maximoff, a.k.a. Wiccan - after he turned on her, Lilia Calderu, and Jennifer Kale in the previous episode. Billy crushed the pebble with the sigil on it that Lilia had placed in his jacket earlier in the episode, seemingly breaking the spell as Agatha could now say his name.

But what is Billy really after if it's not power? That's the million dollar question that Agatha figured out: He wants to find his twin brother Tommy, who he can feel out there but simply doesn't know where he is. Billy claims he doesn't need Agatha's help and attempts to threaten her again, but the magic doesn't work. And with that, he and Agatha embark on the next trial.

Before that, however, Billy gets right in her face, telling Agatha that he doesn't trust her but they can finish the trials together. She accepts, telling him that the "last one there is a nice person", to which Billy quietly responds: "I'm not that nice".

Interestingly, the episode implies that Lilia and Jen died when Billy sent them into the dirt at the side of the Witches' Road, but we know that isn't the case as Lilia's trial still awaits (the The Wizard of Oz-themed one) and the recently-released midseason trailer reveals that the two of them end up underground (likely what happened to them after Billy attacked them).

The remaining four will likely cross paths in next week's episode and unite to take on the next trial. Now that we know Billy had crossed paths with Lilia before, it wouldn't be right for that to be the way that their stories ended.
