Bidding our farewells to a beloved superhero might be heartbreaking at first... until you remember no one's truly gone in the fantastic tales of good versus evil. It doesn't matter whether a shocking death takes place on comic book pages, theatrical movies, or TV series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe; fans are usually treated to a comeback that makes them jump out of their seats in excitement. Groot, Phil Coulson, Loki, and many more have "cheated death" in one way or another, which surely doesn't sit well with Aubrey Plaza's character in Agatha All Along. However, this list of "resurrections" was nearly longer.
Back in 2022, all multiversal barriers would be undone with the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The movie would play a big part in the future of the MCU, not only by explaining the true dangers of the incursions, but also by introducing a new key character in the form of America Chavez.
Additionally, the movie made history by killing off Wanda Maximoff, who was one of the most beloved heroes in the franchise's history. Unfortunately, we've yet to see her character again in more than three years, but there's a parallel universe where things played out a bit differently.
The Scarlet Witch was seemingly supposed to appear in Agatha All Along
WandaVision would kick-start an MCU story arc that would be followed up in Agatha All Along, and might be concluded in Vision Quest if rumors are to be believed. While Wanda only appeared in the first installment of "this trilogy" (despite being the one to provoke it all), it seems that she almost made a magical cameo in the sequel. Fans noticed that Marvel Television's Agatha All Along: The Art of the Series book includes a key art that displays a red-haired character walking the Witches' Road. Is this illustration meant to represent The Scarlet Witch?
This concept art in the art of Agatha All Along looks strikingly similar to a certain witch, I see that red cape Marvel👀👀 pic.twitter.com/hpxWeQuX9d

Back in August 2023, superhero insider Alex Perez claimed that Wanda would be found in a dormant state at the end of the Witches' Road. While he would later recognize that such a scoop was wrong, all signs seem to indicate that Marvel was at least toying with this idea (and maybe it even was a reality during pre-production). Considering that the opening episode of Agatha All Along showcased Wanda's corpse, it isn't too far-fetched to assume she could've made a comeback later down the line.
It's important to remember that the Witches' Road wasn't a real place at first, and only came to be thanks to Wiccan's powers. While he didn't remember his life in Westview during the first episodes of the series, he slowly started to uncover the truth behind the identity of his parents. With that in mind, there's a possibility that Wanda's cameo would've simply been a manifestation of Billy Maximoff's imagination, as opposed to the real thing. That's why audiences never see the Scarlet Witch's face — not even in the concept art displayed above.
The president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, confirmed that Wanda's story is far from over. Unfortunately, he didn't elaborate on when or where we'll see the character next. But thanks to the reports that the Vision Quest series will feature the appearance of Speed, coupled with the fact that Wiccan is looking for his brother, fans have wondered if the Disney+ series could finally give us the long-awaited family reunion.
Marvel's Head of Television, Streaming and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, recently confirmed that big Avengers heroes will still appear as cameos in Disney+ series, even if they aren't the titular characters. With that in mind, there's a chance that Wanda might be the surprise awaiting at the end of the Vision Quest road. That being said, the most likely possibility is that her comeback will take place in Avengers: Doomsday at the earliest (if Marvel doesn't decide to save such a big moment for Avengers: Secret Wars).
While it's unfortunate to learn that we could've seen The Scarlet Witch earlier than anticipated, the wait will simply make her eventual return all the more satisfying. Fingers crossed it comes to be sooner rather than later.
Vision Quest will be released in 2026.
