Throughout the years, we've seen no shortage of iconic Marvel characters suit up and jump into battle on the big screen. Some of them are still going on strong to this very date, despite debuting more than a decade ago, such as Chris Hemsworth's Thor. Others have seemingly retired for good and haven't been seen again in quite a while. But no matter how unlikely it is for a "retired" hero or villain to come back for one more adventure, that could all change in Avengers: Secret Wars.

The upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe crossover could not only feature the most unlikely of comebacks, but also some of the most shocking team-ups and rivalries. There's room for Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker to meet Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. Furthermore, the X-Men could finally fight against Earth's Mightiest Heroes. There are unlimited possibilities, and now Spider-Man himself, Andrew Garfield, revealed who he'd like to see join his character in the movie.

Andrew Garfield would like to meet Tom Hardy's Venom and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine in Avengers: Secret Wars

During an interview with MTV, Andrew Garfield wasn't directly asked whether he's set to appear in Avengers: Secret Wars or not. Instead, he was questioned who he'd like to meet in the movie, if he had a chance to participate in it. Of course, the British star didn't confirm or deny his involvement in the highly anticipated project, and instead limited himself to answering: "I love Wolverine, I love Hugh. Tom Hardy is really a formidable actor, and what he's done with Venom is super fun. Yeah, I don't know. I'm up for a good time".

During the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker revealed that he would like to fight an alien. Immediately after the credits rolled, petitions started to flood in for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to be made and for Venom to make an appearance. Much to everyone's disappointment, Andrew recently revealed that the movie is not happening, which means Secret Wars is the only place where his character could meet the Lethal Protector.

Reports indicate that Marvel intends for Hugh Jackman's Wolverine to come back for more projects even after Secret Wars, so it would be a shocker if the iconic hero were nowhere to be seen in the biggest superhero crossover to date, given that he would survive the events of Avengers: Doomsday. With that in mind, all pieces are in place for Andrew's wishes (and ours) to become a reality.

The one real complication is the fact that the Venom symbiote is dead in Sony's Spider-Man Universe, and Eddie is all on his own now, separated from his other half. However, rumor has it that Avengers: Doomsday will be all about the creation of Battleworld, which is an amalgamation of multiple Marvel universes. If that were to be the case, then there's a chance that Eddie could reunite with the piece of the symbiote left behind in the MCU during the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home, as the two would live in the same world. As easy as that, the Lethal Protector could join the fight against Doom.

Only time will tell whether Andrew, Tom, or Hugh make an appearance in Avengers: Secret Wars and if they are able to cross paths in the movie. But with a bit of luck, the trio will get a bit of the spotlight all to themselves.

Avengers: Secret Wars will be released on December 17, 2027.
