It's officially time for one of the biggest movies ever made to make its presence felt on Disney Plus. Yes, Avatar: Fire and Ash is finally ready to make its streaming debut, arriving on the platform a whole six months after its theatrical debut. If you're a regular user of Disney Plus, you'll know that this is uncharacteristic of the streamer, which often gets major Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars movie releases around three months after their theatrical debuts and releases; but considering that Fire and Ash was literally one of the biggest movies of all time, it's understandable that the streamer waited.
The James Cameron-directed spectacle grossed $1.5 billion during its theatrical run, becoming the 16th highest-grossing film of all time. It's the third Avatar movie - and the third to cross $1 billion at the box office - and its dominant performance once again highlighted the demand for the sci-fi franchise. If you're ready to experience it for the first time - or rewatch it again for its grandeur - here's when exactly you can watch it in your region.

What Avatar: Fire and Ash is about and who stars in it
Avatar: Fire and Ash is the third film in James Cameron's Avatar franchise. It once again centers on Sam Worthington's Jake Sully and Zoe Saldaña's Neytiri on the vivid world of Pandora as they, along with their family, attempt to protect each other and battle human threats - again, the Resources Development Administration - while also warding off danger from the threatening Na'avi clan, the Mangkwan.
Jut as the 2022 sequel, Avatar: Fire and Ash, did, Fire and Ash builds out the Avatar lore in new and exciting ways, feeling like a true larger-than-life spectacle at a time when it's hard for movies to truly stand out. But Cameron works his magic again, really delivering a stunning adventure that is as compelling as it is vivid. Once again back for the ride with Worthington and Saldaña, are Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet.
The original Avatar film was released back in 2009 and dominated box office charts, making history and shattering records to surpass Cameron's own Titanic as the highest-grossing movie of all time. It would temporarily lose that record to Avengers: Endgame in 2019 before a subsequent rerelease help it reclaim the throne - taking it to a whopping $2.9 billion. That shows you the lasting appeal of the franchise.
Similarly, Avatar: The Way of Water saw the franchise make a triumphant comeback to theaters with an incredible lifetime gross of $2.3 billion, making it the third-highest-grossing movie of all time. Now, that the franchise is officially a regular part of the Hollywood landscape, you can rest assured that James Cameron will be looking to break more box office records with planned sequels Avatar 4 and Avatar 5.
Disney continues to see the value of the Avatar franchise and that showed many times throughout the past year. The studio attached the first Avengers: Doomsday trailer to the theatrical release of Avatar: Fire and Ash, before subsequently releasing three more throughout its theatrical run, knowing full well that a massive audience would see the film.
Now, an even bigger audience gets to experience it on Disney Plus.
