It's a big day for Marvel fans. That's right, the first look at Avengers: Doomsday has been officially released. Well, kind of. The film's first trailer is attached to the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash, meaning that it can only be watched in movie theaters. And, knowing how popular the Marvel Cinematic Universe is, we can bet that fans will absolutely be making the trip.
It's part of an original strategy from Marvel Studios that will see four unique teasers for the upcoming MCU film released on a weekly basis. The fourth of them will be the official trailer, gving fans a more detailed glimpse into what's coming from the larger-than-life event next year. But before we get to that, the first one has already surfaced online. And needless to say, fans are stunned by what they've seen / heard / read about it.
The first Avengers: Doomsday trailer reportedly focuses on Steve Rogers
According to both reports and accounts from those who have already seen it, the first Avengers: Doomsday trailer places a focus on Steve Rogers. Yes, that means that Captain America himself, Chris Evans, has returned to the MCU.
While we have not yet seen the clip, reactions from those who have watched it have begun circulating online - including influencer Matt Ramos, a.k.a. Supes, who shared his initial reaction via social media platform X (formerly Twitter). He subsequently shared it on his YouTube platform (while also not featuring the leaked footage itself due to concerns that Marvel might pull his account).
I just watched the trailer for Avengers Doomsday

This is just one reaction, as MCU fans all over the internet are posting reaction memes to the trailer, stunned by what they have witnessed.
As reported by The Direct, the brief clip reportedly shows someone arriving on a motorcycle - that "someone" being Evans' Steve Rogers - before then walking inside the house that he and Peggy Carter live were last seen living in at the end of 2019's Avengers: Endgame.
The clip then apparently sees him pick up his old Captain American uniform before then picking up his infant son instead. We cut to black and the text then reads "Steve Rogers will return in AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY". Finally, the Avengers logo appears, behind a countdown to the film's release day in 2026.
Needless to say, this is a gamechanger. We have not seen Steve Rogers since he went back in time to spend the rest of his life with Peggy Carter in Avengers: Endgame, so to say that fans are ready to see him again would be an understatement. It almost seemed impossible, however, as the storyline served as the perfect ending to the character's arc, with many convinced that we would never see Evans in the role again. After all, the MCU now has a new Captain America in Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie).
Insider Daniel Richtman has confirmed that this is what the trailer entails, adding some nuance to the conversation by posing the question of whether Steve should be the focus of a movie that is set to serve as the opening chapter of the Multiverse Saga's conclusion (as the character hasn't once appeared in the Multiverse Saga).
Regardless of where you stand on the Steve Rogers return of it all, it's clear now that Avengers: Doomsday is going to be the star-studded affair that fans were promised - even more so than the first teaser alluded to - and that this is only the beginning of a year-long tease for what could very well be the biggest movie of 2026. If the trailer report turns out to be true, we're in for one heck of an adventure!
Avengers: Doomsday arrives in movie theaters on December 18, 2026.
