It seems yet another iconic actor from the 20th Century Fox Marvel movies could be entering the MCU via a role in Avengers: Doomsday.

When the Avengers next assemble on the big screen, there is no telling who exactly will have a place on the lineup as a lot has changed since the events of Avengers: Endgame. Since Earth’s mightiest heroes last assembled to battle Thanos, some heroes’ time within the MCU has come to a close while others have finally entered the vast and ever-growing universe and are simply waiting for their chance to join the Avengers team on the big screen.

With so many characters now in the mix, fans are eager to see which new heroes will get the chance to make their Avengers debut and the pieces are gradually being put into place.

Among those set to make their debut alongside the Avengers in Avengers: Doomsday is the First Family of Marvel: The Fantastic Four. After making their official debut within the MCU via The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Pedro Pascal’s Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby’s Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn’s Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Thing will be among the heroes battling Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

The Fantastic Four’s involvement in the Avengers: Doomsday isn’t shocking at all given Doctor Doom has long been one of the team’s greatest adversaries. In fact, it would honestly have been shocking if the iconic team wasn’t a part of the team coming together to battle Doom.

What is surprising is that it seems that Pedro Pascal’s Mr. Fantastic won’t be the only Reed Richards making his Avengers debut in the upcoming fifth Avengers movie, as rumor has it Marvel is going to also be calling upon more than just one Reed Richards it appears.

Fantastic Four star Ioan Gruffudd reportedly joins Avengers: Doomsday cast

According to insider Alex Perez, Marvel is planning on introducing the Council of Reeds within the next Avengers movies and, in doing so, the plan appears to be to bring back Ioan Gruffudd’s Mister Fantastic from 20th Century Fox’s Fantastic Four and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

While details are scarce, it seems that Marvel is looking to bring the Interdimensional Council of Reeds into the mix and it would make sense that, in doing so, they’d look to bring in variants of Reed as the Council of Reeds is literally a group of Reed Richards from across the multiverse who assemble to use their collective abilities to solve the most complex problems of the universe.

Introducing the Council of Reeds into the MCU would give Marvel the chance to bring Gruffudd back as Reed Richards in a natural way and we do know that Gruffudd has an interest in reprising his role under the right circumstances.

"I would love that. I just don't know, in that universe, the Marvel world, would they let me play something else? I'm so renowned for Fantastic Four. But a couple of actors have ,” Gruffudd told Digital Spy back in 2018.

We’ve already seen Chris Evans make his way back into the MCU to reprise his Fantastic Four character, and it would be incredible to see Gruffudd get the chance to enter the MCU and revisit the character even if in just a small cameo. He was an amazing Reed Richards and it would be so fun to see him appearing alongside Pascal’s Reed and, who knows, maybe even John Krasinski’s Reed as well!
