Marvel legend rumored to finally join Avengers team in Avengers: Doomsday

It seems a Marvel legend will finally be making their Avengers debut in Avengers: Doomsday and their involvement seems to have been confirmed in the most unexpected way.

When the Avengers next assemble on the big screen, over seven years will have passed since Earth’s mightiest heroes came together and the Avengers lineup is going to look more than a little different this time around.

In the years that have passed since the Avengers took on Thanos, a lot has changed within the MCU with several heroes seeming to hand up their capes while a new class has entered the picture from various corners of the MCU that were previously unexplored. And when the Avengers next assemble, it’s expected that the team will be made up of both familiar faces as well as several new heroes who will be making their Avengers debut.

We already know that the Fantastic Four will be among the new heroes entering the fold with Pedro Pascal’s Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby’s Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn’s Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s The Thing all confirmed for the film which isn’t surprising given Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom will be the main villain of the film.

They’ll be joined by Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, Anthony Mackie’s Captain America as well as the returns of both Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell, though it remains unclear exactly who they’ll be playing just yet. And it seems we can add yet another name to the growing list of heroes set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday – a Marvel legend who’s been part of the Marvel Universe for nearly a decade, yet somehow has never made it onto the Avengers roster.

Is Daredevil going to be in Avengers: Doomsday? It seems he might!

When the Avengers next assemble it seems the Devil of Hell's Kitchen is going among the heroes teaming up to battle Doctor Doom. That’s right, it appears Charlie Cox is finally going to become an official Avenger over a decade after first donning Daredevil’s signature cowl.

Ironically, Cox’s involvement in the upcoming Avengers movie was spoiled via a fitness center based in Australia where Cox has been training to get in top shape to reprise his role as Daredevil in Avengers: Doomsday.

"It’s been awesome having Charlie and his wife, Sam Cox in at DFRNT over the past few weeks! Charlie is currently training for his role in the upcoming Marvel Avengers movie where he will play Daredevil,” wrote the original caption of the post which has since been edited to remove mention of Cox’s role in the next Avengers movie.

It’s honestly quite interesting that the caption has since been edited to remove mention of Daredevil appearing in the next Avengers movie, and it’s likely that Marvel brass was likely responsible for the change but the cat is out of the bag and it seems like there is a pretty good chance that the post was an innocent slip up confirming a moment fans have long hoped for.

Cox first suited up as Daredevil back in 2015 and while he’s teamed up with the Defenders and has since made his MCU debut, we’ve yet to see Daredevil fight alongside the Avengers which is absolutely criminal.

Given we’ll get to see Cox back within the MCU via Daredevil: Born Again in the lead-up to Avengers: Doomsday, there is plenty of time for Marvel to start laying the groundwork for Daredevil to officially join the Avengers and there is nothing we’d like more than to see Daredevil fighting alongside the likes of Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four as an Avengers in Doomsday.

It’s a moment we once thought might never come and now can’t wait to see become a reality! Getting to see Cox fight alongside the Avengers is a moment that he's more than earned as it's fair to say that the state of Marvel TV likely never would have come to be had it not been for Daredevil, which became one of the most successful Marvel original series when it debuted on Netflix and the show is still recognized as one of the greatest superhero series to grace our screen.

As for who else might join Daredevil in making their Avengers debut in Avengers: Doomsday? There's no telling who else might join the team but the one thing that is certain is that the film is sure to bring together one of the biggest ensembles yet and give several amazing heroes their chance to finally become Avengers!

Avengers: Doomsday is slated to open in theaters on May 1, 2026.
