Elizabeth Olsen’s Marvel future remains uncertain (and that’s not okay)

One Marvel legend whose name was noticeably missing from the rumored list of actors reportedly set to join Avengers: Doomsday is Elizabeth Olsen.

It's been over three years since Olsen made her last appearance in the MCU via Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The film ended with Olsen's Wanda Maximoff seemingly perishing at her own hand when she destroyed the Darkhold and brought Mount Wundagore tumbling down on her in the process. It was implied that Wanda died, but we never saw her body directly and fans remain convinced that Wanda survived the collapse of Mount Wundagore.

Since the film's release, there have been countless rumors about Olsen's return including reports of Marvel developing a Scarlet Witch standalone film. Thus far, though, these rumors have been just that: rumors.

For her part, Olsen has not ruled out a return to the MCU. Just days before the first Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement, Olsen made it clear that she's loved playing Wanda over the last decade and that she would love to continue the character's journey should the opportunity arise.

"I do feel very lucky that I’ve been able to play a character for over 10 years of my life, and I’d love to keep doing more," Olsen told Collider. "But I’ve really enjoyed getting to play her over 10 years, and I continue to feel lucky that I have the opportunities I did, creatively."

While there are many characters we'd love to see more of, there is no denying that Olsen's Wanda Maximoff is at the top of many fans' lists. Wanda is one of the most compelling and complex characters the MCU has ever gifted us, with a layered journey that blends heroism, tragedy, and moral ambiguity in a way few others have achieved. Her return could not only offer closure to unresolved storylines but also open the door to new arcs that explore her redemption, power, and humanity.

Plus, it would be absolutely criminal for Marvel fans to not get the opportunity to see Olsen's Wanda reunited with Vision and their sons, Billy and Tommy!
