Few superhero projects can generate as much excitement as an Avengers movie, and Doomsday is no exception. The first four teasers released have generated over a billion views online combined, and the world eagerly awaits the release of the first official trailer.
Veterans like Steve Rogers and Thor are bound to make a comeback, while newcomers like Shang-Chi will finally join the big leagues. Furthermore, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will introduce its biggest threat ever in the form of Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom.
Avengers: Doomsday has all the necessary ingredients to become one of the biggest movies ever made, and superhero fans are eager to get a better taste of what surprises await. Unfortunately, it's unlikely that we'll get a full-length trailer until San Diego Comic-Con in late July at the earliest. But to make the wait feel a little shorter, David Harbour—who will reprise his role as the Red Guardian—has given us an exciting tease about the upcoming MCU crossover.

David Harbour says he watched six minutes of Avengers: Doomsday and is impressed by what he saw
While audiences worldwide are still waiting for an Avengers: Doomsday trailer, David Harbour has already seen six minutes of the movie and has nothing but praise for it. During an interview with Collider, Harbour mentioned that he just did reshoots for the movie and got to see what Marvel has been working on behind the scenes:
"I was in London last night at 10 PM, London time, on a stage in Pinewood shooting with a bunch of other Avengers (...) But what I will say is this: it's such an enormous production, the Avengers: Doomsday production. You think to yourself, 'how are they doing all this?' and 'what are they doing with all that money?' Then I watched just several scenes in ADR, and I was silenced in any of my critique by going, 'Wow, these Russo brothers really understand the secret sauce of these films [and] what they do.' It's a mythology. It's a broad emotional mythology that is just vivid and vast in a way. And this movie, I've seen like maybe six minutes of it, and it is as good as anything I've seen, so I'm very impressed with it."
This isn't the first time we've heard about someone watching Avengers: Doomsday early and having nothing but praise for it. It was reported that Marvel held an internal screening of the film, and although the cut shown didn't include any material from the reshoots, some called it the "best Marvel movie yet". Furthermore, a scoop from a different source revealed that the upcoming MCU crossover tested at the same level as Avengers: Infinity War.
Harbour's comments double down on the idea that the MCU has something big in store for us, and it couldn't have come at a better time. Critically acclaimed projects like Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four: First Steps failed to break even at the box office, while Daredevil: Born Again Season 2's viewership dropped by over 50% compared to the first season despite being significantly better. Marvel could benefit from having a huge success moving forward, and Doomsday could be the one to deliver it, especially if early previews are positive.

Avengers: Doomsday must also be a hit with audiences in order to build more anticipation for Avengers: Secret Wars. It's no secret that the Multiverse Saga has been extremely uneven in terms of quality so far, but it's clear Marvel is looking to close things out with a bang. That would allow the superhero giant to regain audiences' trust ahead of its brand-new saga, rumored to feature mutants and supernatural heroes.
The Russo Brothers have confirmed that they will work on Avengers: Doomsday until November while simultaneously being in pre-production for Secret Wars. It's reminiscent of the days when Marvel released Infinity War and Endgame just one year apart from each other. Fortunately, the early reactions for Doomsday also double down on the idea that we're back in the golden days of the MCU, and we can't wait to see how it all pans out.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released on Dec. 18, 2026.
