To date, Netflix's Daredevil is still considered one of the very best superhero shows ever made. Audiences worldwide were pulled into a dark, twisted, and violent world unlike anything the Marvel Cinematic Universe had ever attempted. Unfortunately, this mesmerizing adventure came to an end sooner than expected, but its tale was eventually continued in Daredevil: Born Again.
While season 1 of the ongoing Disney+ show was met with critical acclaim, fans couldn't help but feel it didn't reach the heights set by its predecessor. Part of the problem is that the revival was originally envisioned as a reboot, completely ignoring what came before it. It wasn't until halfway through production that the decision was made to make the Netflix show canon, but it was already a little too late. As a result, Born Again season 1 didn't feature too many nods or references to the Man Without Fear's original adventure. Fortunately, season 2 is shaping up to be very different.
Characters like Karen Page now have a more prominent role, while legends such as Jessica Jones and Brett Mahoney are confirmed to be making a comeback. Better yet, Daredevil: Born Again season 2 episode 3 brought back one major element that made the original Netflix show so beloved.

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 episode 3 featured an iconic one-take fight scene
Unknowingly, Netflix's Daredevil season 1 episode 2 set a precedent that would be replicated for years to follow. The episode concluded with the Man Without Fear entering a hallway filled with many bad guys, all in an effort to rescue a little kid. What made the ensuing fight so special is that it played out as a single, uninterrupted take.
Fans loved this ending so much that a similar sequence was featured in seasons 2 and 3 of the original show, as well as season 1 of Born Again. So, of course, a one-take fight scene had to be in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, and it finally happened in episode 3, titled "The Scales & the Sword".
Usually, these one-take sequences depict Matt Murdock facing multiple henchmen on his own, without any sort of external help. Things were slightly different last year, given that the battle was just between the devil of Hell's Kitchen and Bullseye. So, to keep surprising audiences even after all these years, season 2 threw another unexpected (but very cool) curveball our way.
This tale begins with Daredevil going to the Red Hook port to destroy the artillery weapons trafficked under Fisk's supervision. However, things quickly go sideways as New York's protector realizes that Kingpin was holding those who dared oppose him hostage in the same facility. At that moment, the plan changes, and Matt instead decides to free the prisoners from their cages. Fortunately, there was another skilled fighter in the room alongside Daredevil.

Jacques Duquesne first made his appearance in the Hawkeye Disney+ show and also showed up in some episodes of Daredevil: Born Again season 1. However, throughout all his time in the MCU, he didn't really have a chance to showcase his fighting skills until now. See, Jacques once refused to fund the Kingpin's Red Hook Port Revitalization Project, so he was naturally held hostage for standing against New York City's mayor. But once Matt freed him, Swordsman finally proved to audiences why he earned that name.
Daredevil and Swordsman teamed up for a fast-paced, unrelenting fight against many members of the Anti-Vigilante Task Force. What made this scene even better is that there were a high stakes in store, as any little mistake could've cost the lives of all the other hostages held in the Red Hook port. Fortunately, Matt Murdock and Jacques Duquesne proved why Fisk considers them a threat in the first place.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is pulling no punches (quite literally) on the fight department. Given that we've already witnessed some amazing action sequences in the first three episodes, we can't wait to see what the rest of the season has to offer.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is now streaming on Disney+.
