Daredevil: Born Again season 2 episode 4 puts Bullseye front and center

Season 2, episode 4 of Daredevil: Born Again, concludes with (SPOILER) being killed by Bullseye. This changes the course of the series and puts more innocent people in danger.

One of the many things season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again has done right is get viewers pumped for the next episode. For example, last week’s episode ends with Fisk ordering a ship to be blown up with contractors still on it. This time, the last few minutes will lead to all Hell breaking loose, thanks to Poindexter, aka Bullseye.

WARNING! SPOILERS FOR DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN, SEASON 2, EPISODES 1 AND 2

Throughout the episode, Bullseye made it a point to say that he was one of the good guys. It’s debatable since he did kill Foggy Nelson, and no one is forgiving that. However, he is killing a bunch of Anti-Vigilante Task Force agents who probably deserve what they’re getting for abusing their power and killing innocent people. But murdering Vanessa Fisk at the end of the episode will do more harm than good.

Bullseye has been after Vanessa since she used him to kill Foggy Nelson and then got him put into gen-pop in prison to be murdered by the prisoners (season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again). In this season, he’s been on a mission for redemption. He says that he's a good guy and that killing Vanessa Fisk will balance the scales. Fun fact: her murder will do nothing but make Fisk angrier and force his Anti-Vigilante Task Force to go harder with their searches and attacks. This is probably why Jessica Jones’ home was raided.

With all of that being said, the murder wasn’t the part that stands out. And it's not even the anticipation of how Fisk reacts. For me, it was watching Bullseye in those last few minutes of episode 4.

I rewatched the last five minutes of this episode again to get a clearer view of what happened. The first thing I noticed was the confidence with which Bullseye walked into the gym. He wasn’t scared or intimidated. He knew that no one there could stop him, and he was right.

You may be thinking that he was stopped by Daredevil, shot by Vanessa, and almost killed by Fisk. The only reason Wilson didn’t get the kill shot is that Daredevil stepped in. That leads me to my second thought. It looked like Poindexter went in there hoping to be killed.

Bullseye could have killed Vanessa from a seat in the crowd, with a hat on, and his head low, and no one would have noticed. It wouldn’t have upset viewers to see Vanessa get taken out like that. In fact, they may have appreciated his tact. So this seemed intentional. Plus, there was the way he left himself open to getting shot. I truly believe that Poindexter feels bad about killing Foggy, but, more importantly, he hates being used.
