It's safe to say that Marvel Studios has been pulling out all the stops with Daredevil: Born Again season 2. The Disney Plus series has been firing on all cylinders since its second season premiere, proving that last season's creative reboot was indeed the right choice. Truthfully, it feels like a spiritual successor to the Netflix Daredevil series, which is the best kind of compliment anyone could pay it.

It now solidifies its status as a sequel in the sixth episode by bringing back Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones, who we haven't seen since the third and final season of her own series streamed on Netflix back in 2019. Now, she's back - officially canon to the Marvel Cinematic Universe this time - and ready to help Daredevil take down the Kingpin and his Anti-Vigilante Task Force.

With that in mind, it's time to find out how she returns, if she's still in contact with Luke Cage, and if they can stop the Kingpin. As the man has only vengeance on his mind, it's going to be a tall task!

Reunited and it feels so good

Much of this week's episode is focused on aftermath. Wilson Fisk is still reeling from the death of his beloved wife Vanessa in the previous episode, so you can bet that a storm is raging under that cold facade he puts on. He's planning on taking the vigilantes down once and for all, and Daredevil, and Bullseye are in his crosshairs. But they aren't the only ones.

Jessica Jones returns to screens to reveal that Mr. Charles' men broke into her home when her daughter was there, and that has left her extremely pissed off. Although Jessica had stepped away from the superhero business in the years since her Netflix series concluded, she's back in full force - front and center - to get revenge on both Charles the Kingpin for what they have done.

It turns out that Charles was recruiting super-powered individuals for his cause. This includes Jessica, who turned him down. Although she implies that Luke Cage may not have felt the same way. Unfortunately, Charles didn't take oo kindly to rejection and sent his men to take her out. Of course, Jessica got the upper hand, but it seems that her powers have come and gone since her daughter was born.

She and Daredevil attack the AVTF in order to destroy their weapons stronghold - the weapons they took from Mr. Charles, who isn't too happy with the Kingpin. It's awesome to see Jessica Jones back in action and she and Daredevil once again make a great team. Although Powell temporarily gets the upper hand due to Jessica's powers failing again, Daredevil takes him out and the pair exit swiftly before the place explodes.

Meanwhile, Fisk struggles with the loss of Vanessa, paying attention to nothing and no one. He killed the doctor who oversaw her surgery with a bearhug and had Buck clean up the mess. He then isolated himself at her funreral, placed a rose on her coffin and ignored everyone else - even Mr Charles, who isn't happy that he has been officially cut out of the operation. As a result, Charles goes to the Governor of New York and gets her to pull support for Fisk.

Buck, while sharing a moment with Heather in which he managed to coax her darker thoughts about Muse out, tells Daniel that it's time to find out of BB Urich is the mole leaking the administration's secrets. They set a trap by having Daniel relay some false information to her as they head to Daniel's mom's home to celebrate his birthday. BB prepares to text Ellison - an Ellision reference!! - the information but upon entering Daniel's childhood bedroom, she remembers that he's her friend. She deletes the text, but it doesn't matter because he has found the chip that Karen placed in her coat.

Although it momentarily looks like he's going down a mini Fisk path, a sweet moment with Bibi that genuinely looks like it's about to lead to a kiss, has him break character. He tells her the plan and that she's ruined everything because even he might not be able to protect her anymore. And with that, Buck calls. But now that BB knows the plan, Daniel has clearly chosen protecting her over loyalty to the administration.

Karen Page isn't too happy with Matt Murdock's decision to save Bullseye in the previous episode. The villain is chained to the bed and, upon reflecting on everything that has happened - Fisk's war on heroes, Foggy's death - she contemplates whether they should have just let Fisk die all those years ago. Matt won't hear it, believing that the law will take care of Fisk, but she doesn't seem convinced. And, when Matt goes out to help Jessica, Karen considers killing Bullseye.

Bullseye sits up on the bed and begs her to do it and she almost does. Matt, dressed in full Daredevil garb, returns and asks her what happened to her. Karen tells him that she grew up due to all of their loss and she exits, heading out to the streets with Angela del Toro to encourage the protestors outside of City Hall. There, they project the deposition video in which the victims of the Anti Vigilante Task Force speak about what they were put through when imprisoned - and how Daredevil saved them.

Officer Powell deduces the young officer who told Daredevil about the location of the AVTF prison and kills him - resulting in outrage from Officer Cole North. But Powell uses the atrocity to justify violence against the protestors, starting an all-out riot. Angela's cousin is injured in the melee just as Karen's wig is pulled off. This leads to Powell discovering her.

Fisk takes up residence in front of the Rabbit in a Snowstorm painting only to be greeted by Daredevil. The two converse about how their lives would have been different if they never met and Matt offers Fisk a chance to move on if he leaves New York. He even sweetens the deal by saying that he will leave the city too. But Fisk doesn't believe Daredevil has anything to offer him; he's lost Vanessa and that's all that matters to him. And, as much as they don't particularly want to, they fight one more time.

It's violent, bloody, and exhausting. Matt mostly has the upper hand, but Fisk's strength surprises him, allowing the Kingpin to get the upper hand for a moment. He pummels Daredevil by the painting, destroying it in the process. Matt gets back up for round two, taking out his signature Daredevil billy clubs as the two go at it again. Eventually, Matt lands the knockout blow, kneeing his enemy across the jaw. The question is: What does he do with his enemy?

The stalemate of season 2

Daredevil and his friends have been in a bind all season due to Fisk's power over the city, but Matt successfully confronted that situation in this particular episode. He defeated his enemy in a fistfight once again, delivering a third epic showdown between them, but it hasn't solved any long-term issues. They have built enough of a case against Fisk to potentially have him removed from office - especially as the Governor has turned on him and Mr. Charles isn't in his good graces, either. But can they actually stop him and his movement?

Things are more difficult now for one major reason: Fisk has leverage once again. Powell's discovery of Karen puts her in Anti-Vigilante Task Force custody. They might not know that Fisk is at the mercy of Daredevil right now, but Karen's potential imprisonment has also put him at the mercy of them. And, with the season 2 finale on the horizon, that's not where Matt Murdock - or any of the protestors - want to be right now.

The truth is that, even though Daredevil has the Kingpin beaten physically, the war is far from over. Fisk's corrupt movement is still alive and now it has resulted in the person he loves being taken prisoner by the absolute worst that humanity has to offer. Will there be a trade-off, or could the pair reach a different kind of arrangement?

Fisk is going down: His days in office are numbered and things have begun to turn against him. But how many people will he look to take down with him on the way there? The Kingpin always has a plan, and this could be his most diabolical yet.

We're ready (but also absolutely not ready) for what's to come in the remaining two episodes of the season.

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 airs new episodes on Disney Plus each Tuesday.
