Daredevil: Born Again season 2 could feature a surprise Marvel comeback

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will bring back Marvel characters from the Netflix series, and there's a chance this Iron Fist star could also join the adventure.

The first season of Daredevil: Born Again wasn't only the culmination of years' worth of storytelling on the small screen, it was also the first step of a new street-level team-up arc in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Superhero fans are no strangers to Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, two devils who will stop at nothing to shape the city they love. Their restless rivalry has outgrown them and begun to affect New York as a whole, meaning other iconic characters will have no choice but to join the ongoing conflict that's eating their city alive.

After a long hiatus, Jessica Jones will finally be back to aid the Man Without Fear in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Furthermore, it has been heavily reported that the rest of the Defenders will also step out of the darkness to stand against the Kingpin's new empire. Luke Cage actor Mike Colter has teased his character's return in multiple interviews, further supporting the idea that a big team-up is bound to happen. Surely, that means the immortal Iron Fist will have a role to play as well, right? Well, we finally have an answer, although it may not be as decisive as it seems at first sight.

Jessica Henwick confirms she was on the set of Daredevil: Born Again

Iron Fist Season 2 culminated with Jessica Henwick's Colleen Wing becoming the immortal Iron Fist, while Danny Rand departed New York City. So now that the Devil of Hell's Kitchen is looking to recruit an army, fans theorized that Colleen would rise to the occasion and fill the spot of her predecessor. Unfortunately, Jessica Henwick confirmed that won't be the case during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter:

"I'm not on Daredevil: Born Again. I did, however, go and hang out on set, and I had a great time. I can say that the new season is going to be incredible. It's incredible. Seeing Charlie in the suit was so nostalgic and fun. He's just so perfect in that role. What a great guy, what a great show. I'm really excited for the fans. They're going to be happy. And fans of the Netflix shows will be very happy."

At first glance, Henwick's statement would seem to put all theories around her character's potential return to rest. However, Marvel actors are known for trying to keep big surprises and returns under wraps, even if it means twisting the truth a bit.

Andrew Garfield denied his involvement in Spider-Man: No Way Home multiple times prior to the movie's release, only for his iteration of Peter Parker to steal the show. Furthermore, Mark Ruffalo said he won't be in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, despite promotional material confirming the Hulk will have a role to play in the wall-crawler's upcoming adventure. So, is there a chance that history is repeating itself?

Oddly enough, there weren't any reports of Jessica Henwick being on the set of Daredevil: Born Again back in Season 1, and such a "visit" did not happen until now, when Jessica Jones is making a comeback, and Luke Cage is all but confirmed to be in the series as well. This would seem to suggest Marvel is indeed keen on reuniting the whole band for the upcoming batch of episodes.

It's important to note that Jessica Henwick turned down the role of Xu Xialin in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, all in the hopes that she could reprise the role of Colleen Wing in the future. So if Henwick were to appear in an MCU project, it would certainly be as the Immortal Iron Fist. To add more fuel to the fire, it has been reported that Danny Rand will show up in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 as a mentor. Could he be teaching Collin to control her newfound powers?

It's also important to highlight Henwick's remarks about how Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will make fans of the Netflix show "very happy". It's clear Marvel will double down on the connections to the previous street-level shows, which is why characters like Brett Mahoney and Jessica Jones are finally coming back. Chances are that more surprises are in store, and the return of Colleen Wing could very well be one of them.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will be released on March 24, 2026.
