After a long hiatus, Matt Murdock is finally back in the court, and he won't stop until justice is served. Daredevil: Born Again marks the highly-anticipated return of the Devil of Hell's Kitchen and his iconic ensemble of supporting characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So far, audiences have watched Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk attempt to outgrow their past and live a "normal" life. However, the situation is becoming more frightful with each passing episode, and the two archnemesis are starting to go back to their old ways.
As the first season of Daredevil: Born Again wraps, all eyes are already set on what's to come. Marvel has officially green-lit the second season of the hit series, and it won't take too long until it airs. Better yet: We already have an idea of what to expect when Matt Murdock takes over the small screen once again, and it's time to break it all down.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will be released in 2026
The first wave of the live-action Marvel series on Disney Plus lasted for only one season with the one exception being Loki. Aside from it, WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and many more acted as a one-and-done with their stories being followed up on the big screen or other shows. Thankfully, Daredevil: Born Again finally broke that pattern. In 2026, audiences will see even more of Matt Murdock as the show returns for its second season — which is great because we have a short wait ahead of us. And while we don't have a specific release date yet, it won't be long until Marvel reveals more information.
On that note, it's also worth highlighting that The Punisher will also steal the spotlight in 2026 with his own special presentation on Disney Plus. There was never a worse time to be a criminal in Hell's Kitchen given that two of its biggest heroes will be active at the same time.
When Daredevil: Born Again was first announced back in 2022, it was meant to have 18 episodes during its first season. However, there was a creative reboot midway through production, and that number was slightly reduced and divided into two batches in order to meet deadlines. Now, the first season of the series acts as the "first half" of the original plan, while the second one will be its "true culmination". That's part of the reason why there's such a little gap between the two compared to other MCU projects.
The second season will be shorter than the first
Audiences will witness eight episodes in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, which is one episode shorter than the first. However, this is still great news considering that the rest of the Marvel Disney Plus series have an average of six episodes per season.
As time has gone by, The MCU has started to crack the code behind how to make a proper show that doesn't feel like an over-extended movie. Fortunately, Matt Murdock's recent adventure doubles down on this idea, and it looks like all momentum will only grow stronger going forward.
During an interview with Collider, Charlie Cox revealed that some of his favorite Daredevil moments as a whole will be on the second season of Born Again. Besides, Marvel won't need to use "leftover" material filmed from the original version of the series moving forward — which means the end result could be even better than what we watched in season 1 Now the only question remaining is: Who will be there once the Kingpin of crime attacks again?
There will be many returning faces in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2
You might think that all involved with Daredevil: Born Again wouldn't reveal any major cast members for the second season until the first season wrapped things up. However, that isn't the case, as a number of cast members have already been confirmed - both through interviews with some of the creatives behind the series and set photos from the production of the second season. So if you're worried about mild spoilers for the series, this is the best time to jump to the next point in the list.
Still here? Great, then these are all the cast members of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 confirmed so far:
- Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock
- Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk
- Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page
- Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson
- Genneya Walton as BB Urich (revealed courtesy of a set photo)
- Margarita Levieva as Heather Glen (revealed courtesy of a set photo)
- Michael Gandolfini as Daniel Blake
- Hunter Doohan as Muse (revealed courtesy of a set photo)
- Matthew Lillard in an unknown role
- Annie Parisse in an unknown role
- Sydney Parra in an unknown role
- James Armstrong in an unknown role
Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the list is that audiences will see more of Foggy Nelson on the small screen. But will he come back in the form of flashbacks, or did Marvel pull the fakeout of the century? Well, we're going to keep watching Daredevil: Born Again to figure it out.
Daredevil and Bullseye will have new costumes
New season, new costumes.
Set photos of the first episode of Daredevil: Born Again, season 2, reveal that Matt will wear a breathtaking black costume with a big "DD" logo and red eyes. It looks very similar to that of the Shadowland comic book arc, where The Man Without Fear finally returns to Hell's Kitchen after spending time away in San Francisco.
Given that this new look will be present from the get-go, we can't help but wonder if the events of the first season of Daredevil: Born Again will influence this decision, or whether any potential time-jump between seasons is responsible. But whatever the case, it's nice to finally see the Devil of Hell's Kitchen sport the iconic emblem that has accompanied him throughout his career in comic book pages.
Fortunately, Daredevil isn't the only one who'll get to sport his comic book logo. Set pictures reveal that Bullseye will also get a new suit, and it finally has the target emblem on the forehead. Granted, it's a bit hard to make out, given that it's the same color as the rest of the suit. But even then, it's nice to know that the supervillain will be a bit more comic book accurate moving forward.
Set photos hint towards a very interesting storyline
Ever since it was revealed that Wilson Fisk would become the Mayor of New York, we all knew it meant nothing but bad news. But even then, we might've underestimated how deep the rabbit hole really goes. New set photos of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 reveal that fan-favorite Karen Page will sport a brand new look, probably to disguise herself and go unnoticed. Similarly, Matt Murdock will hide behind a hood and big sunglasses in public. So that prompts the question: Why are they undercover?
Thanks to another set picture, we know Matt Murdock will go "missing" after " heroically saving Mayor Fisk's life by blocking Bullseye's shot but being critically injured in the process. Perhaps he took this opportunity to disappear from the public eye if the Kingpin succeeds in his mission to outlaw all vigilantes in the city. Matt will be a fugitive, and anyone who knows his secret will be in the crosshairs as well, which means Karen will also need to keep a low profile.
Rumor has it that Daredevil will try to convince other heroes (such as The Defenders) to come out of the shadows and fight against the Kingpin's new empire. But while this information isn't officially confirmed, it seems like a very likely option considering that a big team-up between iconic Marvel characters was needed to defeat Mayor Fisk during the Devil's Reign comic book storyline. So who knows? Perhaps the cast member list for Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will also include the likes of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, and Finn Jones' Danny Rand.
Another small, yet really interesting detail revealed by set photos is that Fogwell's Gym will be back. The iconic location was very important in the Netflix adaptation, as it was where Jack Murdock fought his last ever boxing match and also the place that Matt uses as a training ground. It seems like Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will have even more connections to the previous series starring The Man Without Fear, which is the ideal way to go. Hopefully, that also means we can expect Karen and Foggy to have more screen time as well.
Daredevil: Born Again is now streaming on Disney Plus.
