The long-awaited arrival of Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is almost upon us. Marvel Television's revival of the Netflix Daredevil series is among the most anticipated returning shows of 2026 and, after some very exciting teaser trailers, it's clear that fans were right to be excited about it.

There are a lot of moving parts to the Disney Plus series' sophomore outing, but it will primarily be about Matt Murdock taking a stand against his arch-nemesis Wilson "Kingpin" Fisk. And he won't be doing it alone, as he will find support from longtime ally Jessica Jones (with Krysten Ritter reprising her role from the Netflix series). He'll also have support from one of his oldest friends, former partner Karen Page. And it sounds like the two will have no problem finding their old synergy again.

Matt and Karen's relationship will play a much bigger role in Daredevil: Born Again season 2

Deborah Ann Woll recently spoke to The Direct about Karen's involvement in Daredevil: Born Again season 2. There have been some rumblings that old flames Karen Page and Matt Murdock might find their way back to each other romantically in the second season of this show, and the star shared her thoughts on that, providing fans with a bit of a tease for what's to come.

"Look I mean, I think from where we left everything off last season, they have a really big job ahead of them. And I think, you know, Matt and Karen are both loners, and so they are pretty much the only other person that the other one has left."

The first season of Born Again almost didn't feature Karen at all, until a creative reboot ensured that the show was redeveloped as a sequel series to the original Netflix series. Amendments were made to involve Karen in the first episode and the finale, with the promise that her return would lead to a bigger role in season 2. Woll's comments reinforce this, as they suggest that there is more of a duo element to this season, allowing the pair to explore the depth of their relationship.

Matt and Karen have a long history. They met in the very first episode of the Netflix show when Matt and Foggy Nelson agreed to represent her when she was framed for murder. Upon successfully clearing her name, the trio became professional partners, with Nelson and Murdock eventually transitioning to Nelson Murdock and Page. Eventually, Matt and Karen grew close and started a relationship. Things became difficult and it didn't end well as Matt had to lie in order to protect his secret identity as the Devil of Hell's Kitchen.

This time around, however, Karen is involved in the vigilantism, helping him play the long game in taking down Wilson Fisk on the streets of New York City. And Woll's comments highlight how their relationship has changed. With Born Again opening with Foggy's murder, both of their lives imploded. Karen left town to deal with the fallout while Matt spiralled. Eventually, they found their way back to each other. And, as Woll puts it, they are now "the only other person that the other one has left."

"And so I think there's a dependence and a reliance and a support of one another that you know will be interesting to see how that plays out."

Fans have been speculating that this "dependence", "reliance", and "support" could very well lead to another romantic turn for the pair. Matt attempted to find love with Heather Glenn in the first season and, in spite of attraction and affection, it just didn't work because they saw life in two completely different ways. One scene with Karen in the finale, however, and it was clear that these two are bonded together forever. And when you have chemistry like that with one person, it's impossible to ignore it for long.

Although Matt and Karen collided on a lot in the original series, they fundamentally understood the good people that they were trying to be. Sometimes they went about things in a different way, but they could always rely on each other to do the right thing in the end. And with that, they will undoubtedly be a formidable duo on the streets of New York City.

Regardless of everything else, Woll's answer also reiterates that Karen will play a much bigger role this season. We hoped that would be the case, and the promotion for the upcoming second outing has indeed implied that, with Karen getting more involved in the action and joining Daredevil out on his missions. But to hear that her relationship with Matt - however that evolves this season - will have a spotlight placed on it is unequicovally music to fans' ears.

The chemistry between Woll and Charlie Cox has always made their scenes electric, and the sheer history between the two will no doubt make each and every one of their moments incredibly charged and full of depth. We can't wait to see them come to life.
