The devil himself is back, and he won't stop until all hell breaks loose in the criminal underworld of New York City. Daredevil: Born Again marked the long-awaited return of Matt Murdock to the small screen after many years of uncertainty. For a time, fans believed that Charlie Cox's portrayal of The Man Without Fear was gone for good and that the role would be recast over time. Fortunately, not only is our favorite lawyer back just as we remembered him, but he's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is getting closer and closer, and it's set to be bigger than its predecessor in every way. But while fans are gearing up to jump back into Hell's Kitchen to join Matt Murdock and Jessica Jones in their fight against the Kingpin of Crime, Marvel is already looking at what's coming further down the line.

The beloved Marvel Cinematic Universe series was renewed for a third season even before an official trailer for Season 2 was publicly released (though one was showcased to people who attended New York Comic Con 2025). There's a lot of confidence set in this world and its characters, an idea that is only reinforced by a new Season 3 production update, which indicates the street-level corner of the MCU is set to get a little bit bigger.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 is looking to cast a new series regular with a long-term role in the series: Is the Kingpin's son coming?

According to renowned insider Daniel Richtman, Daredevil: Born Again season 3 is set to shoot between March and July 2026. This almost exactly coincides with the filming period for season 2, which started on Feb 28, 2025, and wrapped on July 9. Richtman also adds that Beth Bowling, Kim Miscia, and Michael Rios are handling the casting, and they are looking to add a new "series regular with options, suggesting a long-term role in the show".

Back in December 2025, reporter Matthew W. also broke down the same casting news via Nexus Point News. While it is claimed that the true identity of this mysterious new character remains unknown, it is internally referred to under the codename Philip, a "smart and scrappy New Yorker who’s sweet and lovable with a hidden rageful side".

Philip is in his mid-to-late 20s and will be portrayed as a "wannabe gangster" who's loyal to those close to him, but will explode in a rage of fury when pushed too far. The source of the report theorized that Philip could really be an adaptation of either Byron Fisk or Richard Fisk, except they might not be related to Wilson Fisk in the TV series.

In comic book pages, Byron Fisk is the Kingpin's illegitimate son, who follows his father's example by trying to run New York City, except in a more righteous manner. However, that doesn't mean Byron isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. He has fought against iconic Marvel villains such as Hammerhead and acted as a henchman for The Owl. On the other hand, Richard Fisk acted as a supervillain called The Rose, whose main purpose was to take over his father's empire.

Both Byron and Richard have something in common beyond being Wilson's sons: they want to be the next Kingpin of crime and rule over New York. With that in mind, Philip could be a bigger character in Daredevil: Born Again than originally expected. That's why such a mysterious character might end up becoming a series regular. Audiences could be about to witness the origins of a new Kingpin, and Daredevil's next nemesis.

Fortunately, it won't be long before we finally have a concrete idea of what storyline might be pursued in Daredevil: Born Again season 3. After all, season 2 is just around the corner, and it will follow up on the story of Matt Murdock, Jessica Jones, and, of course, Wilson Fisk himself. If the latter really has an illegitimate son out there trying to take over his empire, then we could learn about him really soon.

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is set to release in March 2026.
