There are a lot of movies to look forward to in 2025, and July might just have the most exciting offerings of them all. Yes, the summer month will bring us Jurassic World Rebirth and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, as well as I Know What You Did Last Summer. Perhaps the most intriguing release, however, is Superman - the movie that will relaunch the DC Universe.

Directed by James Gunn (one of DC Studios' chairmen and CEOs, along with Peter Safran), the nostalgic tale stars David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. It also looks to serve as the first (live-action) chapter in the new DCU franchise, bringing the world's most famous superhero back to the big screen in the process.

Excitement is at an all-time high for Superman but Warner Bros. and DC Studios are looking to push it to an even higher level this week.

A new Superman trailer is coming this Wednesday

DC Studios has officially confirmed that the full trailer for Superman is arriving this Wednesday, May 14. And just in case you weren't sure if the rumors were true or not, the studio decided to announce it in the most eye-catching of ways, lighting up Times Square in New York City with a huge billboard. Check it out below, courtesy of DC Film News.

This comes after James Gunn previously confirmed that the film's trailer was ready to go, adding that Superman itself was "more than" 90% done. So fans have been anticipating a new trailer for some time now, especially as it has been five months since that initial teaser trailer made its presence felt around the world.

That promo clip introduced us to Corenswet's iteration of the Last Son of Krypton, Brosnahan's intrepid reporter and Hoult's insidious villain, while also showcasing what fans can expect from Gunn's vision of Metropolis - and indeed the wider DCU. It also featured the DCU's version of Krypto, who has become something of a mascot for the film, taking center stage in a lot of the promotion since.

From the Puppy Bowl to the exclusive clip that released after CinemaCon, Krypto has played a rather large role in the marketing and it has certainly highlighted that the movie might do its triumphant, nostalgic, and playful source material justice - capturing so many of the elements that make Superman's stories so universal.

The Kryptonians look set to be a big part of the DC Universe going forward as Superman will be followed by Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow in summer 2026, which will officially introduce Milly Alcock as the Girl of Steel. Excitement for that one is already high too, and we haven't even gotten to Superman yet.

Needless to say, it's an exciting time to be a DC Comics fan!

Superman arrives in movie theaters on July 11, 2025.
