The world's greatest detective has been away from the big screen for over four years now. As such, fans have tried to take over his mantle and analyze every single hidden clue about The Batman - Part II in an attempt to discover what will happen in the highly anticipated DC sequel. However, this task has proven to be a little more difficult than solving one of the Riddler's most complicated riddles.
When Sebastian Stan was cast in The Batman - Part II, it was widely reported that he would play the role of Harvey Dent, and the actor even hinted at this during an interview with Deadline. With this information, fans were convinced that Two-Face would act as the film's main antagonist, but then things took an unexpected turn.
New rumors surfaced suggesting that Stan would instead bring Victor Zsasz to life—a serial killer who carves a tally mark on his body for every one of his victims. Furthermore, it was reported that Scarlett Johansson would portray Poison Ivy and that Brian Tyree Henry would actually play Harvey Dent.
Director Matt Reeves had previously stated that the main villain of The Batman - Part II hadn't been one in a movie before, adding credibility to the idea that Victor Zsasz and Poison Ivy would take over the spotlight. But then again, sometimes the simpler answer turns out to be the right one.
Sebastian Stan confirms he will be Harvey Dent in The Batman 2
During an interview with Le Journal du Dimanche, Sebastian Stan was asked about his participation in Avengers: Doomsday, to which he replied that he has no idea what the upcoming Marvel movie is about because he didn't receive a full script to prevent leaks from spreading. He then mentioned that this level of secrecy also applies to The Batman - Part II, where he is playing the role of Harvey Dent:
"Honestly, I have absolutely no idea [about Avengers: Doomsday]. Because we didn't have a script. We were just shooting scattered scenes. It's a different way of working: continuous, constantly evolving. The producers didn't want us to read it in its entirety, to avoid journalists asking us questions. I've been following this rule for fifteen years. I'm used to it. I also can't say anything about The Batman: Part II, by Matt Reeves, where I play Harvey Dent."
At long last, the cat is out of the bag, and Gotham is about to discover a whole new face of the justice system.

This casting could indirectly confirm the roles of Scarlett Johansson and Charles Dance. When the original reports that Sebastian Stan would be Two-Face first emerged, they also claimed that Johansson would be Harvey's wife, Gilda Dent, and that Dance would portray Christopher Dent. So, all signs indicate that we'll see the Dent family take over the big screen.
Interestingly, this first wave of rumors also suggested that Gilda Dent would be the main antagonist of The Batman - Part II. Since then, it has been speculated that Matt Reeves could take inspiration from the Batman: The Long Halloween comic-book storyline, in which Gilda becomes a serial killer named Holiday and kills many members of Gotham's crime families throughout the calendar year.
Although Sebastian Stan's role has already been revealed, the main antagonist of The Batman - Part II remains under wraps. While it isn't far-fetched to assume that Two-Face will have a pivotal role in the film, perhaps his wife could outshine him, or there may be credibility to the rumors that The Court of Owls will make its live-action debut. In any case, we're finally putting together the pieces of this puzzle, and it shouldn't be long before more information comes our way, as The Batman - Part II is now in production.
The Batman - Part II will be released on Feb. 18, 2028.
