Being a fan of The Batman franchise is not for the faint of heart. The past few weeks have been an unpredictable rollercoaster that has constantly defied our expectations in multiple ways. First, it was announced that iconic actors such as Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, and Charles Dance had joined the production of The Batman - Part II. Then it was heavily rumored that they would all bring the Dent family to life, with Johansson playing Gilda Dent, Stan portraying Harvey Dent, and Dance becoming Christopher Dent. However, those days are long gone.
It was eventually rumored that Sebastian Stan wouldn't become Two-Face on the big screen, but rather Victor Zsasz, an iconic serial killer who carves a tally mark in his skin for every victim he kills. Not too long after, we got our first teaser for The Batman - Part II, but it came with the reveal that the movie would be delayed to February 2028. Now, what we had taken as a given has seemingly changed once more. It turns out that Gilda and Christopher Dent may not even be part of the movie, as other iconic DC characters could take their place.
Poison Ivy and the Court of Owls will reportedly be in The Batman 2
According to a new report that first originated on the DCULeaks subreddit (with mods supposedly able to verify the information), Scarlett Johansson will play the role of Poison Ivy in The Batman - Part II. This will be a more realistic take on the character, who creates toxins out of plants. Furthermore, she will be on a mission to hunt Charles Dance's character, who is the leader of a secret organization made up of Gotham's most powerful figures.
There's only one villainous group that fits this description, and that is the Court of Owls.
It would be very fitting for the Court to make its live-action debut during the events of The Batman - Part II. After all, during an interview with SFX Magazine (via ComicBookMovie), director Matt Reeves revealed that his long-awaited sequel will dive into a big story of corruption that has been plaguing Gotham City:
"It’s going to dig into the epic story about deeper corruption, and it goes into places [Batman] couldn’t even anticipate in the first one."

Ever since Reeves gave this statement, fans have theorized that the Court of Owls would play a major role in The Batman - Part II. Furthermore, the film's director also mentioned that the villain of the upcoming sequel has "never really been done in a movie before". So the rumors that the Dents would be the villains of the film went against those two ideas. That's why there might be some weight to the latest report, even if it contradicts what we thought we knew about Sebastian Stan's character.
Speaking of which, it was also revealed that Robert Pattinson's Batman will initially believe that Victor Zsasz is the one targeting Gotham's elite, only for the movie to reveal that it was Ivy all along. If true, this would also confirm the report that actor Brian Tyree Henry will be Two-Face instead. So there's a chance that we will see Harvey Dent in Matt Reeves' universe all the same.
Of course, it's always important to take rumors with a grain of salt. After all, Sebastian Stan kind of confirmed that he will, indeed, be Two-Face. Maybe he was simply trying to misdirect fans, but then again, sometimes the simpler answer may be the right one. Fortunately, now that production for The Batman - Part II has started, it won't be long before casting announcements come our way... or a set photo unveils what's truly going on behind the scenes.
The Batman - Part II will be released on Feb. 18, 2028.
