Gotham City has seen no shortage of crimes, corrupt politicians, and devastating events throughout its history, which is why it's all the more heartbreaking to say that the worst is yet to come. Over four years have gone by since the release of Matt Reeves' The Batman, and the long-awaited sequel is finally coming. Filming for The Batman - Part II is currently taking place in Liverpool, England, and set photos have confirmed a winter setting, along with what appears to be a blue Batsuit.

All the pieces are set for audiences to see more of Robert Pattinson's iteration of the Caped Crusader soon. But who will fill the void left by The Riddler? Well, we finally have an answer. Director Matt Reeves took to social media to announce the new cast members of The Batman Part II, which includes many familiar faces. Furthermore, multiple reports have seemingly revealed who these actors will portray, and it seems we're about to come face to (two) face with one of Gotham's most popular families.

Scarlett Johansson will reportedly play the role of Gilda Dent

Gilda Dent, the wife of District Attorney Harvey Dent, will reportedly make her live-action debut in The Batman Part II and be played by none other than Scarlett Johansson. Audiences associate the beloved actress with Marvel hero Black Widow, but her new comic-book role could be the exact opposite of her previous one.

Insider Jeff Snider—who reported on Scarlett Johansson's role in The Batman Part II—revealed that Gilda's role will be bigger than Harvey Dent's. Furthermore, Snider speculated that The Long Halloween might be an inspiration for the upcoming DC Elseworlds film. During that particular comic-book story, Gilda was eventually revealed to be the Holiday killer. With that in mind, there could even be a real chance that she ends up being the main antagonist despite her husband's appearance, and speaking of the Devil...

Sebastian Stan will portray the role of Harvey Dent

We have yet another Marvel actor who became a DC villain. Sebastian Stan is better known as the iconic antihero The Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, he might let go of the little humanity he has and turn into a full antagonist in The Batman Part II.

Harvey Dent is one of the most popular Batman characters ever created, and Sebastian Stan will reportedly bring him to life in the upcoming DC Elseworlds film. Of course, everyone is eager to know whether he'll turn into the infamous Two-Face or if he will merely be set up as a future villain. However, during an interview with The Batman Part II makeup designer Mike Marino, it was revealed that Sebastian will need some sort of prosthetic, which could be an indication that we'll definitely see the actor in full villain mode.

Charles Dance will reportedly play the role of Christopher Dent

Tywin Lannister wasn't satisfied with being the Lord of Casterly Rock, so he decided to conquer Gotham City instead. Charles Dance, who appeared in Game of Thrones as the head of House Lannister, has officially joined the cast of The BatmanPart II.

While there has been no official confirmation of who Charles is playing, rumors have it that he'll be Christopher Dent, the alcoholic father of Harvey Dent. Other candidates who reportedly were in talks for the role were Robert De Niro and Viggo Mortensen, but hey eventually turned it down. So, it's clear that Matt Reeves always wanted a renowned actor for the role, suggesting that Christopher Dent will have a large role in the story.

There's no denying it, the Dents will play a big part in The Batman Part II.

Sebastian Koch's role remains under wraps, but he could portray a villain

Sebastian Koch, who portrayed the role of Yuri Komarov in A Good Day to Die Hard, will soon have a tour through Gotham City. Koch's casting is a bit more mysterious than the other ones we have discussed so far, given that there is no clear candidate for who he might be playing.

Insider Jeff Snider revealed that Dr. Arkham will have a role in The Batman Part II, so there's a chance that Koch will bring the villain to life. It's important to remember that both the Riddler and the Joker are in Arkham State Hospital, and the first installment in the franchise teased that they will have prominent roles moving forward. If the sequel goes back to Arkham once, then chances are that Jeremiah Arkham will be there, "treating" his patients, and who better than Koch to portray the role?

Brian Tyree Henry would make a fantastic Harvey Bullock

Brian Tyree Henry is no stranger to appearing in comic book movies. He portrayed Phastos in Eternals, voiced Jefferson Davis in the Spider-Verse franchise, and had a small role in Joker as Arkham's administrative assistant. So, to keep the streak going, he has also joined the cast of The Batman Part II.

Interestingly enough, Matt Reeves liked a tweet theorizing that Brian Tyree Henry would play Harvey Bullock. Granted, there's always a chance that this doesn't mean anything or is a misdirection, but it would be nice to see Harvey make his big-screen debut. Another popular theory is that Brian Tyree Henry will bring a new version of Lucius Fox to life, but that's nothing more than pure speculation at this point.

The Batman Part II has an all-star cast, and that only makes us all the more excited for what director Matt Reeves has in store. While the movie is still over a year away, let's hope that official announcements start coming our way soon, and we discover who the film's main villain truly is.

The Batman Part II will be released on October 1, 2027.
