Marvel has revealed the variant covers for Deadpool/Batman, which goes on sale in November.

As you can see in the link above, one of the variant covers clearly parodies Todd McFarlane’s famous cover of The Incredible Hulk No. 340, which showed a snarling Wolverine with the Hulk’s reflection in his claws, but this time, we see a furious Batman with the reflection of Deadpool in his Batarangs. The excellent cover was drawn by Greg Capullo, and it will certainly be a fine addition to your collection.

Another one of the other variant covers, which was drawn by Skottie Young, shows a humorous encounter between Batman and Deadpool on the rooftops above Gotham City, while Mark Bagley provided a foil variant cover showing Batman and Deadpool racing towards the Joker in order to quash whatever evil scheme the Clown Prince of Crime has planned. And the excellent standard cover by Dan Mora depicts Batman and Deadpool aggressively charging at one another, no doubt ready to inflict some serious damage.

Since Deadpool/Batman will be the first official crossover between Marvel and DC since JLA / Avengers, which ran from 2003-2004, the hype for this book is absolutely palpable. The plot will see Deadpool travelling to Gotham City to carry out a dangerous assignment, where he will encounter none other than Batman himself. And since the Dark Knight has a strict no-kill rule, he obviously will not take kindly to Deadpool arriving in his city and cutting bad guys to ribbons, as the Merc with a Mouth is known for doing on a regular basis. Therefore, the two will no doubt find themselves at odds before they likely team-up to stop a mutual enemy. And Deadpool’s fourth wall-breaking habit will no doubt lead to some hilarious remarks about the intercompany crossover which he has found himself in.

The main story for Deadpool/Batman will be written by Zeb Wells and illustrated by Greg Capullo. And the book will contain supplementary stories written by Chip Zdarsky, Kelly Thompson, and Silent Bob himself, Kevin Smith. It will be published by Marvel on September 17, before being followed by DC’s Batman/Deadpool, which will be available in November.

Needless to say, this is a comic book event that has been years in the making and audiences are extremely excited to see what will happen when The Merc With A Mouth and The Dark Knight cross paths in this epic crossover.
