Supergirl doesn't have a post-credits scene, but there is a reason to stick around

Does Supergirl have a post-credits scene? No, but fans should still wait around after the credits begin rolling for something epic.

Supergirl was an instrumental part of the CW DC shows throughout the 2010s, and she also stole the spotlight during the events of The Flash (2023). However, the Girl of Steel now has the opportunity to fly solo and reach new heights thanks to her own standalone film project.

Supergirl is the second movie in the DC Universe, and it gives audiences a new take on the character that is more unapologetic than previous versions of the superheroine, yet just as strong and iconic. Milly Alcock does a phenomenal job of bringing the Woman of Tomorrow to life, and she'll have the opportunity to keep stealing the spotlight for years to come. After all, Kara Zor-El has been confirmed to appear in the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow.

It seemed like a given that Supergirl would have a post-credits scene. DC is just starting its new shared cinematic universe, so the studio could take this opportunity to give audiences a small glimpse of what's to come with an after credits scene. But was there really something at the very end of the film? Or will waiting until the credits finish rolling only reward you with a black screen? Unfortunately, the answer is the latter.

Supergirl's end credits feature stunning music from composer Claudia Sarne

Although Supergirl doesn't feature a post-credits scene, fans should still stick around after the end of the movie for something truly awesome. Audiences can simply sit back, discover who worked on bringing this adventure to life, and hear the epic score by Claudia Sarne (who, curiously enough, is the third composer to be attached to the latest DCU project after Tom Holkenborg and Ramin Djawadi left the project). If you went into Supergirl having seen the trailers, you likely knew that the film would feature some epic music all around and we're happy to report that it doesn't disappoint. The colorful credits are just one of the many examples of that - and proof that you should definitely stick around after the movie's credits begin rolling.

It's understandable why DC opted against a post-credits scene in Supergirl. At the end of the day, Kara's latest journey tells an isolated story that works completely on its own. Audiences don't need to have watched the likes of Superman, Peacemaker, or Creature Commandos to understand what's going on here. Likewise, the film doesn't spend much of its runtime trying to set up future storylines.

Perhaps the biggest way in which Supergirl gives us a taste of what's to come is with the debut of Jason Momoa's Lobo. After all, the iconic DC antihero only shows up in a few scenes to fight anyone who crosses his path, and then disappears. Lobo does not have a big character arc in the movie. Instead, it seems the only objective was to introduce him in live-action for the very first time so he could show up in other DCU projects going forward.

Another way in which Supergirl could subtly give us a taste of what's to come is with its final sequence, which reveals what Kara wants to do with her life after going on a big intergalactic adventure (though we'll avoid going into further details to avoid spoilers). However, there's not a big post-credits scene teasing the next villain on the horizon or hinting at a big superhero crossover.

On the bright side, we don't need a post-credits scene to know what other surprises the DCU has in store for us. A Green Lantern live-action TV series titled "Lanterns" is coming our way on Aug. 16, 2026. Furthermore, we'll finally learn what the DCU's version of Gotham will be like, thanks to Clayface, an upcoming body-horror movie set to be released on October 23, 2026. Last, but certainly not least, we'll see the Kents take over the big screen once more in next year's Man of Tomorrow.

There's plenty more superhero action coming our way over the upcoming year. Maybe we didn't get to see what's next at the very end of Supergirl, but that doesn't mean there aren't many exciting projects on the horizon.

Supergirl is now in theaters.
