For weeks, Marvel fans have had February 8 circled on their calendars as a date that could bring about a wave of exciting new footage from Marvel’s upcoming film slate. This is not random or some conspiracy theory plot like what we recently experienced with Stranger Things conformity gate, but rather the expectation was February 8 would be a big day for Marvel fans thanks to the Super Bowl.
Super Bowl LX is set to take place on February 8, and the big game is expected to once again feature spots from some of the biggest studios. The expectation had been that Marvel Studios was set to be among the list of studios debuting new footage during the Super Bowl, with many insiders reporting that fans would get new Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man: Brand New Day footage.
Fans have been counting down the days until the Super Bowl and speculating about what footage might be shown during the spots, with a growing excitement among fans over what the Super Bowl might bring. Sadly, though, it seems Marvel fans will not have anything to look forward to during the game.

Marvel Studios will not drop any trailers during the 2026 Super Bowl
Despite early speculation that Marvel would debut new footage of Avengers: Doomsday or possibly Spider-Man: Brand New Day, fans will not be seeing footage for either upcoming film during the Super Bowl on February 8.
Deadline was first to report that Marvel would be sitting out this year’s Super Bowl, a report that has since been backed up by multiple other outlets. While Marvel has used the Super Bowl to drop new trailers in recent years, most recently for Thunderbolts and Deadpool & Wolverine, the studio has opted not to release a trailer for its two biggest releases during the big game.
The decision is disappointing but hardly surprising. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that NBC has been charging $8–$10 million for a 30-second spot during Super Bowl LX. That is a steep price to pay, and one that Marvel simply doesn’t need to waste money on.
While it’s always exciting for fans to get new trailers during the Super Bowl, Marvel simply doesn’t need the event to generate buzz for its projects in the way other studios do. Marvel can create its own spectacles with strategic marketing for a fraction of that cost, and when it’s already spending so much on the films and marketing, spending $8-$10 million for 30 seconds, just isn’t needed.
When Marvel livestreamed the Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement by revealing the identities of the cast one by one as they brought out new director-chair-style seats, 275 million viewers watched the stream worldwide on various platforms. That’s more than twice as many people who watched the 2025 Super Bowl, which drew 127.7 million viewers on Fox.
The truth is that Marvel knows it can drop the footage for Doomsday and Brand New Day whenever it wants, and the footage will immediately generate buzz. They also have a number of events ahead this year when they can debut new footage for a fraction of the price it’ll cost to drop it during the Super Bowl. There is CinemaCon in April, San Diego Comic-Con in July, D23: Fan Expo in August, and New York Comic Con in October—and those are just four of the many pop culture events they could choose to debut the new trailers at.

What movie trailers are expected to drop during the 2026 Super Bowl?
Although Marvel fans will not be getting trailers for Marvel Studios’ 2026 movies, there are still a lot of amazing trailers set to debut including several from Marvel’s parent company.
Disney is expected to debut trailers for Pixar’s Hoppers and there is a rumor that we could also get a new trailer for Toy Story 5, two big animated releases set to release in the upcoming months. Lucasfilm is also expected to debut a new trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu, which is certain to be one of the biggest trailers from the Super Bowl this year.
We’ll also be seeing trailers from a number of studios with Lionsgate bringing Michael, Paramount dropping a spot for Scream 7, Universal potentially debuting a trailer for Disclosure Day, and Illumination releasing trailers for Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Minions 3.
Of course, we could see some surprises in the mix as well, but many big studios are expected to sit out the Super Bowl like Marvel. This includes Warner Bros., DC Studios, Apple, and Amazon.
