As reported by pro wrestling news site Fightful and confirmed by WWE Superstar Big E himself on social media, the former WWE Champion and eight-time Tag Team champion will be joining the voice cast of upcoming Marvel animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
The reveal of Big E's involvement first came during an interview with the new Disney+ cartoon's showrunner Jeff Trammell on Brandon Davis's show.
Big E, real name Ettore Ewan, remains featured on WWE programming, although he has been forced to step away from in-ring action after sustaining a neck injury in March 2022. He has been a member of the promotion's pre- and post-show panels and has been hosting the Netflix show Raw Classics, which highlights some of the history of WWE's flagship show, which has been exclusively airing on Netflix around the world since the start of 2025. WWE's deal with Netflix has made the streaming giant the exclusive home of all WWE programming in multiple global markets including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, much of Europe and parts of South America and Asia.
What to know about Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will debut on January 29, with a two-episode premiere. New episodes will debut weekly, with multiple episodes airing each week until February 19: three on February 5 and 12, and the final two on February 19. Although the series takes cues from the MCU Spider-Man movies, it is a standalone story set in a different universe — however, given that the Multiverse has been increasingly significant to the mainline MCU movies, there's a distinct possibility that Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will end up tying into the live-action MCU in the long run.
Originally revealed in 2021 with the title Spider-Man: Freshman Year, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man follows a Spider-Man younger than we're used to from the mainline MCU. The biggest twist to the familiar story created by the cartoon's alternate universe is that Spider-Man himself is mentored by Norman Osborn (the eventual Green Goblin) rather than by Iron Man. The series's art style is meant to evoke the look of panels from the early volumes of the Spider-Man comics. On a similar note, the title of the first episode, "Amazing Fantasy" is a reference to the comic book where Spider-Man first appeared (Amazing Fantasy 15, August 1962).
Despite being set in a different universe, several recognizable actors from the live-action MCU projects are reprising their roles. Charlie Cox appears as Daredevil and Vincent D'Onoforio returns at Kingpin. Although he has revealed his inclusion in the cast, Big E has not confirmed what character he will be voicing. Other members of the voice cast include:
• Hudson Thames as Spider-Man
• Zeno Robinson as Harry Osborn
• Colman Domingo as Norman Osborn
• Grace Song as Nico Minoru
• Kari Wahlgren as Aunt May
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will begin streaming on Disney+ Wednesday, January 29.
