Yet another former X-Men actor is pushing to return as their mutant character and is publicly promoting their “crusade” for the role!

X-Men fans are well aware that, after years of delays due to legal issues, the mutant characters are finally entering the MCU. Avengers: Doomsday will boast several actors from the original Fox films, like Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, James Marsden as Cyclops, and more.

It’s believed that after 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars, the entire X-Men franchise will be rebooted as somehow always having been part of the MCU. That’s led to speculation about which characters can show up or not.

Lana Condor had played Jubilation Lee, aka Jubilee, in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse. She was the latest in a series of actresses to play the mutant who creates kinetic fireworks with Jubilee intended to have a larger role in the film. Sadly, most of Condor’s scenes were cut from the theatrical release.

Talking to Parade, Condor, who now stars in Netflix’s hit To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before franchise, talked about wanting to go back to Jubilee in any project.

“I have been on this crusade to try and have them bring me back since truly the moment X-Men: Apocalypse first came out. There was so much of Jubilee because she was my first character ever, ever, ever, and I was such a baby…I didn’t know. I thought you had to pay for crafting. I had never stepped foot on set. So, I didn’t know that world, and I was just so happy to be there. Honestly, any screen time that I got, I was like, ‘I can’t believe this is happening.'”

Jubilee has often been cited as a landmark character for Asian-American girls, with her sass, attitude, surprising toughness when she has to be, and the fun “costume” of a yellow coat with visored shades. The most popular iteration is likely in the 1990s X-Men animated series, with X-Men ‘97 giving her more of a spotlight.

The character made brief appearances in the first X-Men movies, and the deleted scenes from Apocalypse show that Condor was perfect for the role. She added to Parade that “there was so much that I wanted to do with Jubilee, and there are so many—based off of the comics—just so many places to go with her, so hopefully. That would be amazing. I would love that.”

It's still uncertain if any reboot includes Jubilee at all, but at least Marvel knows Condor is ready whenever she gets the call!
