A major X-Men actress just addressed whether they’re in Avengers: Doomsday and if they’ll return to their iconic role!

With Avengers: Doomsday building up toward release, there’s plenty of excitement over who’s in it and who isn’t. The major crossover will officially bring in characters from the Fox X-Men movies, with Hugh Jackman, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen on board.

So far absent is Halle Berry as the weather-controlling Storm. Speaking to ScreenRant, Berry clarified her role in Doomsday once and for all.

“Yeah, I love that. Storm is a very special character to me. I've been so blessed when I gotten to play her. I think the whole world of the X-Men and being mutants and outcasts. And there've been movies that I've been proud to have my children watch. They have so much to say that I thought has been really important, especially for my children as they've grown. So they're beloved. And while I'm sad I won't be in Doomsday this round, there are other rounds. And I would do that in a heartbeat."

Now, it’s possible that Berry is playing that old trick of acting like she’s not in the movie and then showing up after all. It would be strange to have so many X-Men actors involved and not one of the biggest names. However, it may have simply come down to Berry being unable to work this in with her busy schedule.

That’d be a shame, given that the X-Men without Storm would be lacking.

Why we need Halle Berry back as Storm

When X-Men was filmed in 1999, Halle Berry had been on the rise in Hollywood as a strong actress with a growing base. Her first turn as Ororo Munroe, aka Storm in 2000’s X-Men was a bit off as she had an odd accent and needed to deliver the now-infamous “toad struck by lightning” line.

By the time the sequel X2 rolled around in 2003, Berry had made history winning the Oscar, becoming a Bond Girl with Die Another Day, and an established mega-star. She would return for the third movie and then reprise the role in Days of Future Past, still making it work.

Berry grew into the part, believable as this weather-controlling goddess and putting a stamp on it that Alexandra Shipp couldn’t quite match in Apocalypse. The fact that Berry barely appears to have aged only adds to the appeal of her playing Storm again.

It’s possible that with Disney now owning the X-Men, they can restart the movie series. Having Berry as Storm as a teacher mentoring a new generation of mutants would be perfect. She can still do some action scenes while letting the younger castmates get more of the attention and add to Storm’s legacy.

So while we won’t see Storm in Doomsday, hopefully Berry’s words indicate we will spot everyone’s favorite “weather witch” on the big screen one day.
