Characters are likely going to die on Harley Quinn. The only ones who are safe from death at this point are Harley, Poison Ivy, and Bane - and even the last two may not be. But the idea of anyone being on the chopping block is part of what makes this show amazing. Unfortunately, sometimes it’s someone you didn’t want to go. In the previous episode, Frank the Plant was that someone.
Although Frank wasn't one of the show's central characters, he was comic relief. However, during the second episode of the season, “Back to School”, we see that he was Ivy’s first creation and he was created before Pamela Isley got superpowers. Frank was her baby. If that wasn’t sad enough, Frank’s last words were calling Ivy mom.
The next episode, titled "Frankette", will probably be the birth of Ivy’s newest plant-child and they'll be a she or non-binary. Whether creating Frankette is a cry for help or something she needs remains to be seen. But play close attention to how Harley Quinn reacts. It will be a defining moment in their relationship. Harley is dealing with stuff but her partner needs her more than ever.
The murder of Frank seems to be narrowed down to Brainiac or Lena Luthor. Lena was conveniently gone when Frank was killed and was furious that Clayface, Harley Quinn, and Bane's musical was making Brainiac look sympathetic. After giving up her spot with the villain and being cast from his ship, she was made a mockery of in a play. That gives her motive.
Meanwhile, back on his skull spaceship, Brainiac (whose real name is Vril Dox) was dealing with the death of Koko after the play revealed how crazy he was being. Once he came to his senses, Vril spoke like he was addressing the viewers. Whether he broke the fourth wall or not is unknown, but unlikely. The best guess is he was talking to whoever he asked to - or who he saw - kill Frank. With Frank dead, Ivy understood what it was like to lose someone like he did with Koko, his family, and home planet.
While it would make sense that Brainiac or Lena Luthor killed Frank, it wouldn’t be shocking if someone else was guilty. This universe is full of crazy people with reasons to hate Ivy and Harley. For all we know, Brainiac hypnotized Superman and made him do it. To find out who it was, stay tuned to Harley Quinn. Information on how to watch the next episode is next.
