We all love a good Marvel story. It doesn't matter whether it takes place on comic book pages, on video game consoles, or the big screen; anticipation will always be at an all-time high whenever a promising project is upon us. Fortunately, 2026 is looking to be one of the best years the superhero giant has seen in recent memory.
The street-level side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will forever change with the release of The Punisher Special Presentation, Jessica Jones' comeback, and brand new episodes of Daredevil: Born Again. Moreover, Earth's Mightiest heroes will finally assemble after a seven-year hiatus in what's shaping up to be their most dire adventure to date, courtesy of Avengers: Doomsday. The cherry on top of the cake? Captain America and Black Panther will take over the video game industry with Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. But if all of that wasn't enough, then the wall-crawler got us covered.
Peter Parker will be at the front and center of 2026 with the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the release of the MGM+ and Prime Video Spider-Man: Noir series, a new season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and Miles Morales' big comeback in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Unfortunately, one of these highly anticipated projects was just hit with an unexpected delay, and the worst part is that this isn't even the first time it has happened.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse officially delayed for three weeks
Yes, history repeats itself once again. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse was originally meant to be released on March 29, 2024, but was delayed to June 27, 2025, before being pushed back once again to June 4, 2027. Now, we're facing the same scenario all over again. However, there's some good news: We're only looking at a 3-week setback, which is the shortest span out of them all. However, given that it's less than a month, one can't help but wonder why it was necessary in the first place. Fortunately, we have some much-needed answers.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse producer Christopher Miller revealed that the delay was made to ensure the movie has a better IMAX release window. Given how visually stunning the previous entries in the franchise were and how important the use of color is within them (especially in Across the Spider-Verse), it doesn't come as a surprise that the next chapter will make the best use of an IMAX screen.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is now set for a June 25, 2027, release. That means that, within the span of a little under a year, we'll get to watch two Spidey movies on the big screen, given that Brand New Day is slated for a Jul. 31, 2026, premiere. There really couldn't be a better time to be a fan of the wall-crawler, and if Insomniac Games were to release that long-rumored Venom spin-off, then things could be even better.
Miles Morales' animated journey will be almost ten years in the making by the time the final installment in his franchise comes our way. Needless to say, it's been a long time coming. However, if Beyond the Spider-Verse manages to keep the same quality of its predecessors, while doubling down on the fast-paced action moments, and leaving no loose ends, then the wait could definitely prove to be worthwhile.
At the time being, no trailer for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has been released. However, Sony did release some official stills, and with a bit of luck, it won't be long before they properly kick off the movie's marketing campaign. We're all eager to see if Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, and Peter B. Parker manage to save the multiverse as a whole, or whether a dark ending is on the cards. Fortunately, it will just be three more weeks before we are finally able to do so.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will be released on June 25, 2027.
