Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen is learning that the phrase “Heavy is the head that wears the crown” is accurate. As soon as she began to plan for her coronation in House of the Dragon season 3, she learned that she barely has enough gold to get her through the next couple of weeks. And the bad news didn't stop there.

All the rat-catchers were killed back in season 2's "Rhaenyra the Cruel", meaning that the rats have eaten through a large supply of candles. The butchers need meat, and there's no game for miles. And there's no sheep because they've been taken or killed by dragons, so the people who trade in wool aren't making money. And then the hits keep on coming as more people continue to make justified complaints that Rhaenyra Targaryen simply can't do anything about.

It's looking likely that Rhaenyra's trials and tribulations will continue throughout the third season of the HBO TV series, and the previous episode's closing moments made that clearer than ever. Here's when we can find out what happens next in the upcoming episode.

What to expect in the next episode of House of the Dragon season 3

The trailer for the next episode shows that Westeros's new queen Rhaenyra Targaryen has even more conflicts coming her way. For example, the issue of the crown not having gold to spend or give to the workers continues. Among those workers are the soldiers, who will revolt if they aren’t paid.

On top of that, someone is attacking a place that raised the queen's banner, and it looks like Aemond and his dragon, Vhagar, will slaughter some of Rhaenyra's soldiers. The only good news that will come out of this is Daemon knowing where Aemond is. It isn’t much, but House Targaryen will have to take wins wherever they can get them.

As we reach the half point of House of the Dragon season 3, it is becoming increasingly clear that the battle for the Iron Throne isn't as over as Rhaenyra and Daemon would like to believe it is. The question is: Can they officially declare their dominance and rule over King's Landing effectively, or will those who revolt forge an army strong enough to challenge them once again? Only time will tell, but as the halfway point of the season draws near, expect more high-stakes conflict and shocking moments that only the Game of Thrones franchise can give us.
