Mark Grayson has fought beings well above his power level leaving people to laugh at him calling himself Invincible. And while part of what Invincible was doing was making the character's name ironic, it doesn’t make it any less funny. That being said, it can’t be denied that Mark has improved a great deal on this season of the Prime Video adaptation. He’s won some fights he’d normally lose because he has gotten stronger, faster, and more durable. However, what’s next is something he’s not prepared for.

When Mark fought his father Omni-Man, it was clear that Nolan was holding back. Yes, that was him holding back. He could have cut his son in half with a chop. Anissa could have killed him as well, but she stopped because that wasn't her mission. But, before she left, Anissa gave Mark a warning. She said, “But, soon, another will come and if he finds you still resistant to your destiny, he’ll demonstrate the error of your ways and this whole planet will pay the price. I pray you come to your senses before then.” Anissa is talking about Conquest.

WARNING! POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR SEASON 3, EPISODE 8!

Some of the most dangerous people in the world are true believers. The kind of people who aren’t going to alter their ideals no matter how insane and hazardous they are. These are the Red Skulls and Doctor Dooms of the world. On that list is Conquest. He’s the most loyal to the Viltrumite Empire and will fight, kill, and conquer for everything it stands for.

When the Viltrumite leader, Thragg, says jump, Conquest asks, “Onto who’s head and how much blood needs to be shed?” He’s a lunatic who would rather brutally attack and maim than talk. However, when he does speak, he’s arrogant and insufferable. Unfortunately for Invincible, his hubris is justified. That’s something Mark will find out in the season 3 finale.

People have been waiting for this fight because it’s brutal and not just on Conquest's side of things. It’s easy to forget that Mark holds back; he's willing to take a lot of punishment before he uses his full strength. After the first attack, it will become clear that Invincible will have to go all out or everyone on Earth will die.

In short, we’ve seen Mark fight and lose to people like Battle Beast and the Vitrumites on planet Thraxa (see: season 2, episode 4) but It’s doubtful any of them are on the level of Conquest. They may be as or more powerful, but, to quote King Hyperion in The Exiles, they aren’t mean enough. Considering everything we’ve seen from them, that says a lot. So prepare yourself for the bloodiest fight from Invincible to date and know that this is a top-three battle, but the best is yet to come.
