Season 3 of Invincible is less than two weeks away and we know a few things for certain. First, Mark Grayson (Invincible himself) will have his blue and black suit. Comic book fans know this spells disaster for Mark. Second, the third season won’t be split into two parts like its predecessor was - it's good that this won’t happen again as the break in season 2 ruined the momentum. Lastly, there will be unintroduced characters. Among them are Powerplex, Dropkick, and, Fightmaster.
With the new characters came new voice actors. In a recent social media post, Skybound introduced the voice actors playing some of the new heroes and villains who’ll appear in Invincible season 3. Rather than just say who they are, I’ll give you a brief introduction of the character they’re playing without spoilers. Let’s begin.
*** WARNING! MINOR SPOILERS FOR INVINCIBLE SEASON 3 AHEAD! ***
Aaron Paul as Powerplex
Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul has joined the cast as Powerplex. This is a complicated character who wants revenge for something Invincible did. While it wasn’t completely Mark’s fault, Scott Duvall, realm name Powerplex, doesn’t see it that way. All he knows is Invincible has to pay.
Luckily, his wife, Becky Duvall, has his back.
Kate Mara as Becky Duvall
Kate Mara is another huge addition to Invincible season 3. Becky Duvall is the definition of ride-or-die. When Scott began his plan to take out Invincible, she was all for it. She even helped get Invincible in the perfect place for Powerplex to get revenge. What ends up happening will be tragic and ironic.
Simu Liu as Multi-Paul
Simu Liu is no stranger to the superhero franchise, having played Shang-Chi in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and now he joins the star-studded cast of Invincible season 2 in the role of Multi-Paul.
Multi-Paul is the twin brother of Guardian of the Globe member, Dupli-Kate. Like Kate, he can multiply himself. Unlike her, however, Paul chose a life of crime. After Kate’s death, Paul goes after Rex thinking that he’s responsible. Luckily, Rex gets help from an unlikely source. Otherwise, he would have been killed.
Xolo Maridueña as Dropkick/Fightmaster
Dropkick and Fightmaster are two minor time-traveling characters that kind of spoil Mark’s future for viewers and readers. However, it's unclear if that will happen in the series in season 3, or if it will be left until season 4. Season 3 will likely just be them robbing a museum. Look for Dropkick and Fightmaster to debut in the same episode and scene as Multi-Paul.
Like Multi-Paul, he is also played by a superhero veteran. Xolo Maridueña portrayed Blue Beetle in the character's live-action film and will reprise the role in the animated DC Universe series. In the meantime, however, he will be lending his talents to Invincible season 3.
Tzi Ma as Mr. Liu
Recently appearing in The CW's Kung Fu, Tzi Ma joins the show as Mr. Liu, a.k.a. is the biggest crime boss in the world. The character's human form is old and fragile, but being able to project a physical manifestation of a dragon makes up for that. That form is tough enough to give Omni-Man problems. He’ll appear after Titan for failing to get Multi-Paul out of prison.
Christian Convery as Oliver
Look for Christian Convery to make an impression as Oliver. In the comics, Oliver is very much like Damian Wayne. He’s the son of one of the greatest warriors in the world and he knows it. On top of that, Oliver doesn’t have the compassion for humanity that Mark has. Because of this, he will be someone you’ll love and hate. If that isn't Damian Wayne, what is?
John DiMaggio as The Elephant
The Elephant is no one important. So much so that even Invincible doesn’t remember fighting him and they’ve battled at least half a dozen times. There’s no way that joke isn’t made in an episode.
John DiMaggio, on the other hand, is a veteran of voice acting with countless iconic roles to his name, including that of The Joker in Batman: Under The Red Hood.
Jonathan Banks and Doug Bradley as (redacted)
Both Jonathan Banks and Doug Bradley are playing mystery characters. If we had to guess, one of them is likely voicing Conquest. Conquest is a Viltrumite so brutal that even Omni-Man was appalled by the things he’s done. He’ll probably be played by Jonathan Banks.
As for Doug Bradley (the voice of Pinhead in the Hellraiser franchise), he could be one of the scientists who fixed Angstrom Levy. That warrants a redaction because it implies that Angstrom Levy is alive. However, he could also be the biggest dog in the yard, Grand Regent Thragg. The latter would be an end-of-the-season surprise to let fans know business is about to pick up.
We'll have to wait and see, but we're excited to see who these two stars play, along with the rest of the major additions to Invincible season 3.
