For the past month, horror fans have watched intently (while the rest of us have watched behind our cushions) as HBO and HBO Max's most recent prequel series shed some light on one of the most iconic horror stories of all time. We are, of course, talking about IT: Welcome To Derry, which has offered some unexpectedly terrifying context to the classic Stephen King tale.
Specifically a prequel series to 2017's IT and its 2018 sequel IT: Chapter Two, it does indeed feature Bill Skarsgård reprising his role as one of the scariest clowns to ever grace any screen (sorry Joker!). The origins of Pennywise are as dark and perplexing as the primary IT story and it's clearly been a successful stint into the past as viewers have been tuning in each and every week.
The show has surpassed its halfway point now with its fifth installment. If you've already consumed that one, here's when you can anticipate the next outing.
When IT: Welcome To Derry episode 6 comes out on HBO Max
IT: Welcome to Derry episode 6 will stream on HBO Max on Sunday, November 30, at 9:00 p.m. ET, 6:00 p.m. PT, 7:00 p.m. CT, and 8:00 p.m. MT. For those of you watching it on linear cable, it will air on HBO at those exact times too, meaning that you can tune in at the top of the hour in your respective time zone. And, as always, the streaming option on HBO Max is available for those who would prefer to watch on their laptops, phones, or tablets.
The episode, titled "In the Name of the Father", is sure to be an ominous one - and you know that if you've seen the most recent episode, too! But if we're being honest, that's not surprising in the slightest, because the whole run of IT: Welcome to Derry has been intense thus far - and, with just three episodes left to stream / air, we doubt that's going to change anytime soon.
The fourth episode broke the internet with that viral, shocking scene (you know the one we're talking about!), which caught even the most prepared of IT viewers off-guard, so the show isn't known for holding back. With the finale - and a long-awaited full-scale appearance from the Pennywise we know from the movies himself - nearly upon us, you can rest assured that the HBO show's darkest days are still ahead of it.
We don't know what to expect from the rest of the episodes, but we're ready. Or maybe we're not! Either way, we're locked in for whatever IT: Welcome to Derry throws our way!
