2025's Superman not only kickstarted a new cinematic universe based around DC characters, but it also earned a spot in the ten highest-grossing films of the year. Along the way, audiences couldn't help but fall in love with this new portrayal of Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Lex Luthor (even if the latter was for all the wrong reasons). Considering the film had positive critical and commercial receptions, it was only a matter of time before a sequel was announced. Fortunately, that day came sooner than anyone expected.
Man of Tomorrow is officially a reality, and it will mark the long-awaited live-action debut of Brainiac. Furthermore, Superman and Lex Luthor will need to reluctantly team up to save the world from the upcoming alien invasion. But if that wasn't enough, it appears there will be plenty more surprises in store. Fans around the world have been eager to know what the DCU's Batman will be like, and it appears answers might start to arrive sooner than expected.

Man of Tomorrow will reportedly reference the DCU's Batman
Given that the DCU is a new universe with (mostly) new character portrayals, it doesn't come as a surprise that it will give us a new version of the Caped Crusader. While this iteration of Batman was seen during a blink-and-you-miss-it moment in the animated series Creature Commandos, it has yet to be referenced in any capacity on the big screen. However, Man of Tomorrow will reportedly change that.
According to industry insider Jeff Sneider, Man of Tomorrow will "feature a reference to Batman, but it won't physically have Batman in it". It's worth noting that Brave and the Bold is set to be the Caped Crusader's first stand-alone project in the DCU, but given that the movie has no official release date in sight (and it is reportedly targeting a 2028 release), even the smallest of Batman references will have to do for the time being.
The same source also claimed that James Gunn is already casting the role of Wonder Woman, which led some fans to believe that the iconic Amazon will also appear in the movie (though this is pure speculation at this point). Knowing that Brainiac will come for Earth, and that the situation will be so dire that Lex Luthor and Kal-El will need to team up, it wouldn't come as a surprise if Diana Prince had to be called upon to save the world. After all, the first Superman movie successfully managed to shine the spotlight across multiple superheroes, so it wouldn't come as a surprise if the sequel attempted to do the same.
It's worth keeping in mind that the entirety of the DCU's first chapter, Gods and Monsters, has yet to be unveiled. Given that only the first half of it was showcased, many projects still remain under wraps. As such, it wouldn't be too far-fetched to assume that the road will lead towards an eventual (and unannounced) Justice League movie. If that's the case, then big hitters such as Wonder Woman, Batman, and Green Lanterns should start getting a bigger, more prominent role moving forward, and Man of Tomorrow would be the perfect place to do so. Hopefully, it won't be long before we find out more about the highly anticipated sequel.
Man of Tomorrow will be released on Jul. 9, 2027.
