The Boys season 5 is already off to a wild start with the shocking death of a main character and amping up the conflict between the maverick heroes and the Supes. However, one of the most anticipated parts of the final season will be Jensen Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy, reuniting on screen with his former Supernatural co-star Jared Padalecki in episode 5.

Fans of Supernatural are more than eager to see the actors who spent 15 seasons playing Sam and Dean Winchester on the WB/CW hit now facing off. There was a big mystery about who Padalecki would be playing with many options suggested from the comics or a new character created for the show. At the FACTS Convention in Belgium, the actor finally revealed the identity of his character to the audience.

"I can finally say it. We shot it a year ago. We shot in April of 2025, and I've been terrified of saying sh*t because I was like, 'Jeff Bezos is going to send a SWAT team after me or something.' Okay, yeah, I'm Mister Marathon."

In the original Boys comic, Mister Marathon was a member of the Seven who died during the horribly botched attempt by the “heroes” to stop the 9/11 hijackers. In the series, he’s been established as a former member of the Seven, a super-speedster before A-Train joined up. It looks like his retirement is short-lived.

The pair will be joined by their fellow Supernatural co-star Misha Collins (who played angel Castiel). So far, Collins’ role is covered up, so it’s unclear if there’s some sort of connection between him, Soldier Boy, and Marathon.

As fate would have it, The Boys got beaten to the punch with a Supernatural reunion. That honor went to the April 14 episode of ABC’s The Rookie. The cop drama had its annual “documentary episode,” where the characters are filmed on a case and explain to a film crew what happened. It's always an offbeat entry that's a fan favorite.

The case of the week was a former cop stabbing himself with somehow a suspicion growing that he’d been possessed by demons. He was a big Supernatural fan, and so Ackles and Padalecki showed up, playing themselves, to talk about the guy pressing them about a demon from the show as if it were real. It was a short cameo, but clearly the two actors were having fun playing off their personas.

So now that fans know who Padalecki is playing, it’s likely to make The Boys’ Supernatural reunion more super than before!
